Inflicts one enemy with toad status.

Description

Pond's Chorus, also known as Toad Song, is a Blue Magic spell in Final Fantasy V. It inflicts toad on one target. Though it has a similar effect to the Black Magic spell Toad, it has a lower MP cost, and is unable to cure toad. Notably, this is the only Blue Magic spell that those currently afflicted with toad status can cast.

Pond's Chorus can also be used by catching and releasing an Elf Toad, Archeotoad, or Kornago.

Obtained[]

The earliest Pond's Chorus can be obtained is from an Elf Toad in Walse Tower, and in the spire of Castle Walse. The Elf Toad will only use the ability when alone.

Pond's Chorus can later be obtained from Azulmagia, Metamorph (in Elf Toad form), Archeotoad, Kornago, Farfarello, Gilgamesh, Lemure, and Vilia, as well as Enuo's hand. Vilia does not normally use the ability, and the player must use Control.

Use[]

Pond's Chorus inflicts the toad status on an enemy, which can be crippling. Toad greatly reduces a target's physical damage, and prevents them from casting spells. This cripples most enemies, but bosses tend to be immune to the status, and thus there are limited opportunities to really benefit from it.

If the player wishes to inflict toad on an enemy, and has the Blue Magic skillset, Pond's Chorus is more MP-efficient than casting Toad, and can also ignore reflect. In other cases, Toad is the better spell, as it can cure the status as well as inflict it.
