Remove Poison from one ally.

Description

Poisona is a White Magicks spell in Final Fantasy XII, both in the original PlayStation 2 version and the Zodiac re-releases. It is a single-target status heal spell that removes Poison, an ailment that deals passive damage to the afflicted.

Poisona is also used by Urutan-Yensa (Bow) to heal themselves and their allies from Poison.

Obtained[]

Poisona's license costs 20 License Points. In the Zodiac versions, Poisona is bought for 320 gil from shops from Barheim Passage onwards. It is also found in Trial Mode Stage 25 treasure with the Diamond Armlet equipped.

In the original version, Poisona is bought for 200 gil from Nalbina Fortress, Rabanastre (after obtaining Sunstone and Penelo leaves), and Barheim Passage.

In the Zodiac versions, Poisona can be used by the job class White Mage, as well as by Red Battlemage after acquiring a 50 LP Quickening license that acts as a bridge to it. Larsa/Lamont also has Poisona when he is a guest.

Mechanics[]

Poisona removes Poison from a target. It costs 8 MP to use without any Channeling licenses. It bounces from Reflect unless the caster wears the Opal Ring.

Poison is a hazardous status that reduces HP by 1/16 of the unit's max HP every 12 seconds, but wears off over time.

Use[]

Poisona is a good status heal spell the player can easily set up via the gambit system (Ally:Any→Poisona works well). However, for more utility, the player can set up Ally:Any→Esuna gambit instead, which will respond to various ailments, not just Poison. The player can also rather set up a gambit for Antidotes, which take no charge time to use, and are fairly cheap and plentiful. The player can also protect against Poison with Tourmaline Ring or Ribbon.

Etymology[]

The suffix -na is derived from Japanese Naoshi ((ナオ)()?) meaning "cure".
