Removes poison status from the target.

Description

Poisona, also known as Antdot,[1][2] is a Healing spell in Final Fantasy VI. It cures poison and/or sap from one target. It is learned naturally by both Terra and Celes, and can later be learned by other party members through magicite.

Obtained[]

Terra learns Poisona naturally at level 6, while Celes learns the spell at level 8. Other party members must learn it through magicite, taught by Kirin at a x4 rate.

Use[]

Poisona is an inexpensive spell to use. Because both poison and sap deal damage over time, it is imperative to cure them as soon as possible. Although healing their HP in battle may be more pressing, poison should be cured as soon as possible; on the field, it should be used immediately.

Poisona has the same effect as using an Antidote. The spell is often so inexpensive in terms of MP that it is better to simply use Poisona, while Antidotes can be used if the ally has not learned Poisona. As well as Poisona, Sabin (or Gogo with Blitz equipped) can cure himself of poison with Chakra.

Both Terra and Celes know Poisona naturally. Because Poisona does not rely on the caster's Magic stat, the spell should be taught to everyone. The spell's MP cost is so low that it should simply be used by the first available character when used in battle.

Poisona is outclassed by Esuna, which cures a number of negative statuses including poison and sap. However, Esuna's higher cost means that if poison and/or sap are the only statuses that need curing, it is better to use Poisona.
