Poison and petrify materia is a Magic Materia in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth that provides the user both the
Poison- and
Petrify-inflicting spells from the
Poison Materia and
Petrify Materia. The materia can be linked with
Warding Materia to resist against both statuses.
Poison and petrify materia is rare, as only one can be acquired for a party. It also levels up much slower than individual poison and petrify materia. Though it is a much more slot-efficient materia, its rarity requires players to be resourceful as to who uses it, and which Support Materia to pair it with.

Use[]
The poison and petrify materia grants the three tiers of both Bio and Quake spells, but requires significant AP to fully level. At full level, it fills the purpose of both materia at once, but using one slot rather than two. Quake spells deal more initial damage and inflict a deadlier status, but are costlier; Bio spells are weaker and inflict a status that damage more slowly over time, but are cheaper to cast.
The most effective support pairing for poison and petrify materia is warding. This grants resistance, up to full resistance, to both statuses at once. The poison status dealing damage over time can wear party members out and interrupt Regen, making it potentially very disruptive, while the petrify status can effectively remove a party member from battle until it is cured. Both statuses can greatly derail a battle, and as such resisting against both can be extremely important.
Aside from warding materia, a few other support materia pairing can be used if the player prefers to use it for spellcasting purposes. Magnify Materia allows the spells to be cast on all opponents at once, while
Magic Focus Materia can increase the strength of the spells.
Magic Efficiency Materia can reduce their cost (though this is more helpful for Quake spells than Bio spells), and
Swiftcast Materia can speed cast time (though this is better saved for other materia). Though
Synergy Materia and
Auto-Cast Materia can be used to auto-cast Bio, this is an inefficient use of the materia.
