Poison courses through the character's veins, draining HP for the duration. Remove with an Antidote.

Description

Poison is a status in Final Fantasy XII that reduces the HP of the affected by 1/16 of the unit's max HP every 12 seconds. Poison wears off over time. When an enemy dies of Poison status, it does not break chains but will still drop improved loot if the player had a high chain when the enemy died of Poison. The damage from Poison cannot be resisted by any means and is unaffected by Reverse. A unit can have both Poison and Sap at the same time.

The formula for the duration is:

Abilities[]

"Auto-Poison" equipment Ensanguined Shield
Spell Poison & Toxify (Green [OG] / Black Magicks [Zodiac])
Weapon Bamboo Arrows 25%, Mesa 20%, Poison Bombs 25%, Thorned Mace 15%, Yakei 10%

The spells that inflict Poison have a variable chance of success depending on various factors unless the caster equips the Indigo Pendant accessory, which makes the ailment always take effect unless the target is immune to Poison.

A poisoned party member can use Stamp to give the ailment to other targets.

When a party member equips the Nihopalaoa accessory, they can use items designed to heal Poison to inflict it instead.

The ally-targeting gambit specifically for this status is called "Ally: status = Poison", while the self-targeting one is "Self: status = Poison" and the enemy-targeting version is "Foe: status = Poison". In the original version, these gambits can be bought for 50 gil after the events at Draklor Laboratory. In the Zodiac versions, they can be purchased for 70 gil after leaving Nalbina Dungeons.
