Platinum Armor (プラチナアーマー, Purachina Āmā?), also known as Platina Armor or Opal Armor, is a recurring heavy armor in the series.

Description

Platina Armor is a mid-ranked armor that provides 36 Defense, nullifies Ice-elemental damage, and teaches Beast Killer. It can be bought for 10,500 gil at Daguerreo, and can be equipped by Steiner and Freya.

Final Fantasy XII

In the original version, Platinum Armor is a high-ranked armor that provides 47 Defense and +7 Strength. It requires the Heavy Armor 7 license to equip, and can be bought for 9,300 gil at Archades and Balfonheim Port, or from the Bazaar from the "Platinum Gear" set. The set includes Platinum Helm, Platinum Armor and Platinum Shield, and requires Storm Magicite x6, Tanned Giantskin x6 and Insect Husk x2 to make for 19,120 gil.

In the Zodiac versions, Platinum Armor now provides 49 Defense and +7 Strength, and requires the Heavy Armor 8 license for 65. It can be bought for 8,500 gil at Archades and Balfonheim Port, from the Bazaar from the "Platinum Gear" set, found at Tchita Uplands (Fields of Eternity), or from the Hunt Club sidequest. It is also a rare drop from Apsara in Trial Mode Stage 31 and a rare steal from Marilith in Stage 34. It can be equipped by the Uhlan, Knight, Time Battlemage, Foebreaker, Red Battlemage, and Black Mage.

Description

Platinum Armor is a mid to high-ranked armor that provides +90 HP. It can be bought for 9,000 gil at an Outfitter after Walled City of Yardrow in Chapter 3, or found as rare treasure at Lake Poescas.

Etymology

Platinum is a chemical element with the chemical symbol Pt and an atomic number of 78. Its name is derived from the Spanish term platina, which is literally translated into "little silver".
