Lower the enemy's Defense
Final Fantasy Type-0 description
Piercing Gleam (一閃突破, Issen Toppa?, lit. Flash Breakthrough) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It is an ability used exclusively by Jack of Class Zero, though not entirely unique to him.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy Type-0[]
Piercing Gleam is an ability for Jack that requires 5 AP and is available after learning Slipstream. It lowers the enemy's Defense. When performing it, Jack lunges forward hitting his target, and his next slash will inflict Defense Break. The chance to inflict Defense Break is high, slightly higher than Cater's Weakening Bullet, despite the sluggishness. It is hard to use because of its startup frames, which leaves Jack vulnerable to attacks before his Defense Breaking slash.
Piercing Gleam: Effect ↑ requires 6 AP and is available after learning Piercing Gleam. It increases the effect of Piercing Gleam. Piercing Gleam: Power ↑ requires 8 AP and is available after learning Piercing Gleam: Effect ↑. It increases the power of Piercing Gleam. Piercing Gleam: AG ↓ requires 5 AP and is available after learning Piercing Gleam: Power ↑. It reduces the AG cost of Piercing Gleam.
