Philcox is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. He appeared during the seasonal event All Saints' Wake in 2024.

The pumpkin-headed apparition sought out the Warrior of Light to aid a troubled fiend, Philcox, who struggled to find joy in the All Saints' Wake festivities. The Warrior of Light learned from Papa Gruff, a Philcox’s former partner in the celebration, that their partnership had soured due to Philcox's lack of magical skill. At Papa Gruff’s suggestion, the Warrior approached the agitated Philcox, eventually calming him down enough to discuss his frustrations. Philcox, lamenting his lack of magical talent for crowd-pleasing transformation tricks, revealed his unique ability to detect negative emotions, a skill he saw as useless for entertainment.[1]
Encouraged by the pumpkin-headed apparition, Philcox realized his ability could serve a purpose by helping mortals alleviate their troubles, gaining their appreciation in the form of aether-rich gastronomic gifts in return. With newfound motivation and a magically enhanced costume, he challenged Papa Gruff to a contest to see who could win the most admiration from the people. The Warrior agreed to lend their support, hoping that the rivalry would ultimately bring both voidsent closer to their own unique ways of celebrating All Saints' Wake.[1]

Philcox, after some encouragement, sets out on his mission, but quickly grows frustrated by the eerie atmosphere at Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre. He asks the Warrior of Light to guide him through the city, as he’s unfamiliar with the area. They find a distressed man looking for a lost child, and after some searching, the pair reunites the child with her mother. Philcox, eager to prove himself, continues on his own to help more people, leaving the Warrior of Light to report his success to the pumpkin-headed fiend.[2]

The winner of the competition was Papa Gruff who managed to get only one cookie, while Philcox managed to get none. In the amphitheater, the girl Philcox had helped earlier appeared and presented him with a cookie, thus tying the final score. Philcox is praised by his former partner. Philcox admits that persistence is key in winning over the hearts of others, and with newfound determination, he resolves to continue helping the people of Gridania. The pumpkin-headed reveals that the whole event was to boost Philcox's confidence, and rewards the Warrior of Light with a set of finery.[2]
