The Peryton is an enemy from Final Fantasy III. It is found as a regular enemy in Doga's Grotto and as a treasure chest enemy in the Sunken Cave. They are relatively dangerous as they can inflict moderate damage to a party member and often attacks with other Perytons. Physical attacks are the way to go, though in the 3D versions, Aeroga works extremely well. It's named after the mythological beast with bird and deer factions.

The Peryton is a legendary creature combining physical features of a stag and a bird. Often depicted as a winged deer, the peryton was said to have the head, neck, forelegs, and antlers of a stag, combined with the plumage, wings, and hindquarters of a large bird.
