PerseusBow-ffxii

Perseus Bow in Final Fantasy XII.

Be thankful this bow does not bear a notch for every fell fiend vanquished by it, for by now it would be naught but a string.

Perseus Bow (ペルセウスの弓, Peruseusu no Yumi?) is a recurring weapon in Final Fantasy series. It is often the most powerful bow.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy IV[]

Bow said to have been used by a legendary hero.

Description

Only appearing in the Advance and Complete Collection ports, the Perseus Bow is the most powerful bow found in the Lunar Ruins. It has an Attack power of 110, Accuracy of 85, and gives +15 Spirit. Only Rosa can equip it.

The weapon is bugged in the North American and original Japanese releases, and does not deal Throw-elemental damage. This was fixed in the second Japanese release and the European version.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[]

The Perseus Bow is the ultimate bow. It has an Attack power of 90, Accuracy of 25%, and gives +10 Spirit. It is obtained after defeating Echidna.

It can be acquired in the bazaar for 17,200 gil by selling Spiral Incisor x4, Antarctic Wind x2, and Ice Crystal x7, or as a treasure chest in Pharos - First Ascent (Wellspring Ravel - 2nd Flight) by completing the red bridges through killing Deidar, or the Cerobi Steppe (South Liavell Hills), or dropped by the Bug (1% chance). It can be equipped by the Archer class.

Etymology[]

Perseus, the legendary founder of Mycenae and of the Perseid dynasty of Danaans, was the first of the heroes of Greek mythology whose exploits in defeating various archaic monsters provided the founding myths of the Twelve Olympians. Perseus beheaded the Gorgon Medusa, and saved Andromeda from the sea monster Cetus.
