Use in conjunction with basic attacks to more effectively pressure enemies.Description
Overpower is an ATB ability for Tifa in Final Fantasy VII Remake, provided to her by the Metal Knuckles. Tifa runs towards an enemy, then leaps forward feet first, and performs three kicks, somersaulting after the third to land back on the ground. The ability deals physical damage, and can be used to pressure enemies.
Obtained[edit | edit source]
Overpower is provided by Metal Knuckles. It is permanently learned by, with Metal Knuckles equipped, using Overpower on an enemy, and immediately following it up with a basic attack combo.
Mechanics[edit | edit source]
Overpower comprises four hits, wherein the first three hits have an attack power of 20, and the fourth has an attack power of 192. Each hit has a stagger and pressure rate of 1,t hough the last hit has a pressure rate of 2.
After using Overpower, Tifa's next normal attack will use a new attack combat, with an interrupt strength of 50.
Use[edit | edit source]
Overpower deals single target damage, and can be used to pressure some enemies. It deals decent physical damage, but in combination with Tifa's Unbridled Strength martial techniques, it plays into Tifa's strengths of quickly building up a stagger on enemies. Using Overpower can also be a great way to interrupt some enemies while they are using their abilities. The ability has minimal area-of-effect damage.
If Overpower is used, it is helpful to pair Tifa's attacks with Elemental Materia to exploit an enemy's weakness. This can more easily pressure enemies that resist her physical attacks. Overpower is a niche ability that is useful in scenarios against enemies who are vulnerable to it, but should not be relied upon.
Overpower's main drawback is that many more durable enemies cannot be so easily pressured by it. It deals less damage than Divekick or Starshower, meaning it is best for building enemies up to staggering them and not for dealing damage.
