The Outsider is an enemy in Final Fantasy VI fought in the final dungeon and the bonus dungeon only available in certain versions. It is dangerous, and often attacks in pairs accompanied by an equally dangerous Cherry.

Battle[]
Outsider can throw various weapons, the thrown weapons increase in power every turn. It counters physical attacks by throwing a Shuriken and magic attacks by throwing a Fuma Shuriken, both of which are powerful. Their special attack, Dispatch, instantly kills its target. As it is a physical attack, it ignores protection from the Safety Bit and Memento Ring, which guard against magical death. The Outsider uses Dispatch against itself on its sixth turn.
Strategy[]
It is advised to cast Holy or Banish to kill the Outsiders quickly before they wipe out the party. If it is controlled, it can also cast Flare and Banish. Man-Eaters will deal double damage to Outsiders as they count as humanoid enemies.
Coliseum setup[]
The Outsider can be annoying to defeat, because it has not one, but two abilities that can instantly kill the player: Dispatch and Banish. Its melee attack and Flare do minimal damage, so as long as Outsider's death abilities do not hit, it can be defeated in a short time.
Should the player have mainly low-level characters, this can be an especially difficult victory to secure. A good bet for success may be to use Sabin and hope for him to use Phantom Rush which, even at lower-levels, is a devastating move.
Another way is to equip Shadow with Ichigeki and Assassin's Dagger using the Genji Glove for a combined 44% chance per turn to kill Outsider before he can do it to Shadow.
