Final Fantasy VI PlayStation Bestiary entry

The Outcast, otherwise known as the Ing, is an enemy in Final Fantasy VI.

Stats Edit

Battle Edit

Outcasts are undead who often attack in groups, and use an Earth-elemental attack called Lifeshaver when weak, absorbing HP and damaging the target. Their special attack Glare can inflict Blind. Locke can steal Amulets from them.

StrategyEdit

The easiest way is to defeat them is to use a Phoenix Down or a Holy Water. Alternatively the player should use any Holy or Water-elemental attacks they have. Sabin's Aura Cannon, Mog's Water Rondo or Gau's Anguiform Rage all work.

As an alternative strategy, the player can fly to Thamasa before entering the cave and steal Gaia Gears from Briareus. Lifeshaver is an Earth-elemental attack, and Gaia Gear absorbs Earth-elemental damage, effectively reversing Lifeshaver's effect to heal the target and weaken the Outcast instead.

Etymology Edit

Ing is the theonym of the Germanic god Yngvi.

The enemy's Japanese name is pronounced Ai no Gero (愛のゲロ?) in reverse, a phrase which means "vomit of love".
