Ornitholestes is a special enemy in Final Fantasy X, created in the Species Conquest of the Monster Arena when three of each Reptile species fiends have been captured, with the exception of the Cave Iguion, which is only encountered when capturing fiends is not possible. It has the same model as the Yowie and Zaurus.

Poison Touch.
With high Agility and Evasion, Ornitholestes can be difficult to hit. Its Poison Touch attack inflicts Poison and reduces 75% of its current HP of one character, while Drain Touch siphons a large amount of HP from a character. When its HP falls below half, Ornitholestes will use Drain Touch more often.
It drops weapons with Double Overdrive and armor with Defense +% abilities, Defense +20% being fixed.
Strategy[]
Stacking the special abilities Aim and Luck, as well as using Jinx on Ornitholestes, will lower its chances to avoid physical attacks.
Inflicting Zombie on the party with Poisonproof armor will lead to an easy victory, as the Zombie status reverses the effect of Drain Touch.
Since Ornitholestes only uses physical attacks, one character could use Sentinel to receive them in place of other characters. With this strategy, only the Sentinel character needs Poisonproof armor and/or the Zombie status. If the Sentinel character has a weapon with Counterattack, they will also counter Ornitholestes's attacks.
Etymology[]
Ornitholestes (from the Greek ornithos meaning "bird" and lestes meaning "robber") was a small, raptor-like dinosaur that lived during the late Jurassic period in what would become North America. It typically fed on small lizards and mammals.
