Order's Sanctuary (秩序の聖域, Chitsujo no Sei'iki?, lit. Sacred Precincts of Order) is an arena in Dissidia Final Fantasy and its prequel, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy. It is a simple arena, consisting of a flat water plain with large arching grind beams players can quickmove on. In the center is a large low-sitting chair flanked by two shell-like structures. In the stage's Ω version the Bravery pool is always shown as 0. Rather than rewarding the Brave pool to them, sending a character into the Break status will double the attacker's Bravery points.
In Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, despite appearing as a massive flat area, Order's Sanctuary is revealed to be a tall, slender tower with a wide, spindly castle-like structure at the top. It is possible that the inside of the tower is a pocket dimension, similar to the dungeons located within the relatively tiny gateways. It is located on a small island in the sea south of the ruins of Cornelia. It acts as Cosmos's throne, and is rarely threatened by manikins or Warriors of Chaos.
The Order of Emptiness is the battlegen item obtained through stage destruction in this area.
An Earlier Cycle
As shown in the Reports, Shantotto once stood as the last defense for Cosmos at the Sanctuary, while Prishe patrolled its outer borders under her command. During this cycle, Gabranth marched upon Cosmos's throne alone, attempting to take her out and end the war himself. He faced Shantotto, was defeated and wandered in shame finding himself lost in another dimension, where he lingered through the cycles, repelling other lost souls who ventured there. Shantotto lectured Prishe over allowing the Warrior to slip past her perimeter.
After finding the Warrior of Light, Prishe brings him back to Sanctuary where Cosmos grants him the light of one of her warriors.
Dissidia 012 Prologus Final Fantasy
Cloud mentions that "The Sanctuary" is under attack. It is unknown if he referred to Chaos's forces marching on the Sanctuary, or the impending waves of manikins.
Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy
The story begins with the Warriors of Cosmos being summoned back to Cosmos's throne where she grants them with the divine power that would eventually coalesce into their Crystals. The warriors leave, finding the land they had only recently left to be infested with manikins. They are divided by battle, and after some time, only Lightning returns, finding the Warrior of Light standing as Cosmos's last defense.
Lightning challenges the Warrior's allegiance, and his plot with Kain is revealed. The other surviving warriors arrive in time to hear the scheme, and decide to join Lightning in her plan to close the door to the Rift where the manikins are pouring out of for a chance for victory in the next cycle. While they fight the final battle of the Twelfth Cycle, the Warrior fights off a horde of manikins who are storming the Sanctuary, fighting to his last strength. Cosmos sacrifices herself in a powerful attack, wiping out the manikins and ending the war to save the Warrior of Light's life and granting him the ability to return.
Dissidia Final Fantasy
In the Thirteenth Cycle, Cosmos appears in Order's Sanctuary before her warriors awaken, and is greeted by Golbez, who reminds her of her plan regarding the Crystals. The Warrior of Light, who appears to be reborn within the Sanctuary, fights his way to her and finds her weakened from her assault at the end of the last cycle. She speaks with him briefly, and sends out her message to the other warriors to find their Crystals.
At the beginning of Shade Impulse, the warriors gather and return in Order's Sanctuary with their Crystals, and later, are revived there by Cosmos's divine power. The Warrior of Light faces Garland the first time on the Sanctuary's map, beginning his journey away from his Goddess's throne.
In Distant Glory, cutscenes occur in Order's Sanctuary, and the player fights Shantotto in its battle map. During Inward Chaos, if playing as one of the heroes, the moogle is found at the Sanctuary, appearing on Cosmos's throne. The opening FMV and the tutorial chapter take place in the watery area beyond the map boundaries.
Order's Sanctuary appears as a battle background in a Battle Music Sequence.
- It is possible to clip out of bounds when controlling the camera in the museum while watching a fight in Order's sanctuary, thus making the player able to see the arena in its entirety.
