Orcs (オーク, Ōku?) are a recurring race the Final Fantasy series, first appearing in Final Fantasy Adventure. They are generally depicted as savage pig-faced beastmen but can have a more humanoid or even reptilian appearance. Orcs are generally hostile pillagers, with very few friendly orcs encountered. The common Orc, also known as the Orcish Fodder or Mad Boar, is typically encountered as the weakest enemy of its type.

Etymology[]
orc is a fictional humanoid creature that is part of a fantasy race akin to goblins. While the overall concept of orcs draws on a variety of pre-existing mythology, the main conception of the creatures stems from the fantasy writings of J. R. R. Tolkien, in particular The Lord of the Rings. The concept of porcine orcs was popularized by the Dragon Quest series.
