Mustadio

FFXIV Mustadio

Mustadio resembles a gigantic robot with an slightly angelic appearance due to his wing-shaped backside. Among his abilities are ~210-angle sweep assaults to his left and right side, randomly placed mines exploding after a delay for extreme damage and summon Worker apparitions to cross-fire the area with medium-sized linear attacks. His most deadly mechanic is the ability to snipe multiple raid players at once with literal lethal precision. When he disappears to perform this attack, watch out from where Mustadio fires and position your character with the open segment in your ring towards his direction. Successful execution will only reduce your HP by about 70~80% instead of causing Instant KO.

Agrias

FFXIV Agrias

Proceeding further into the sanctum, the spirit of Agrias appears and transforms into an angelic warrior. She uses her trademark Holy Knight class attacks from Final Fantasy Tactics, in a much larger scale. Examples returning as mechanics include:

  • Hallowed Bolt: a large donut-shaped double AoE that fires an inner and outer circle with a light delay.
  • Judgement Blade: A large scale Area of Effect assault that knocks all unprotected players back. Defend against it by using the duty action while standing on the radiant shield patches while also facing into the bosses' direction.
  • Divine Ruination: Similar to Judgement Blade but targets random players and fires a linear AoE towards (alluding to the original sword skill). Can be blocked in the same manner as Judgement Blade.
  • Northswain's Strike: Deadly as its original iteration, this skill's opening will scatter random players around the arena and bind them in a Halidom crystal. Angelic knights appear to start casting linear AoEs targeting the afflicted players and random angles across the entire area. Unbound players must use the Sword buff per Duty action, to shatter the prisons and free the other players. Anyone left standing in the lines is instantly KO'd.

Used between 60~70% Max HP and considered her ultimate attack is Heavenly Judgement: She summons three Knight adds (two Sword Knights and one Shield Knight), becomes untargetable and begins charging energy. The Knights need to be spread across from each other to avoid overlapping. Patches with a Sword or Shield buff will appear which have to be used appropriately against the adds or they will take very low damage. After their defeat, another wave of adds can appear under certain circumstances, so be prepared to defeat them in time. If the additional enemies are not defeated within the time span, Agrias will shower everyone with a massive rain of holy spears and wipe the entire raid, dealing up to 1.000.000 damage.

The Necrohol

Neholen

After clearing The Realm of the Templars, the party is teleported by the magic circle to the Necrohol which is, in fact, Mullonde. Not far from the entrance, adventurers are surprised by a hoard of Nightstalkers. It's advisable they should be separated from each other to avoid overlapping area damage. After their fall, a Dark Crusader will rise from the remnants and assault the party with linear AoEs fired in up to three prongs and his Noahiongo spell. Overcoming this foe leads the part to the next deadly (and quite familiar named) individual.

The Thunder God

FFXIV TG Cid

The legendary warrior appears in a monstrous, somewhat draconic form in a ring-shaped arena, similar to the Ozma battle of an earlier raid. His trademark attack is T.G.'s Holy Sword which has multiple variations:

  • If he raises his swords above three platforms he will hit the full radius of each targeted.
  • If he sticks the swords into the ground, he will hit everything outside of his targeting circle.
  • and for the third iteration, Thunder God will pose in a battle stance and hit half the radius of the entire arena, so position at the edges of each platform.

Players should also be wary of:

  • Shadowblade: An Aoe marker targeting a random person (tanks included) of each group. Affected players should drop them in an faraway spot on their clockwise next platform from players, which is important to avoid overlapping with others' markers and a hefty Bleeding status.
  • Crush Helm: Used on tanks, this is a chasing spell which ramps up to 5 stacks of Physical Vulnerability. One can lessen the effect by running away from it. After the 4 initial hits, healer and tank should manage their HP so they can survive the fifth hit, ranging from 40.000-80.000 points of damage (advisable to keep health above 65.000 at all times).
  • Crush Weapon: Targets one random DPS per group, they should first drop the marker away from the party, then prepare to be chased by the AoE for up to 5 hits. While similar to 'Crush Helm', it can inflict a Damage Down debuff if survived.

Phase 2 starts between 60-70% HP, with Duskblade as commencing ability, where 3 different people need to place in each platform's mark to avoid extreme raid-wide damage (possibly wiping everyone below 60.000 HP).

After the first Duskblade, Thunder God tosses all parties upwards to a hovering arena and spawn Ephemeral Knights. Pull each of them to a separate corner and defeat them in time to avoid a wipe. These monsters can also target a random player of each group in range to cast Hallowed Bolt (with the double melee/donut mechanic as in earlier fights) at their current position. In the later parts of the fight, he will also use Crush Accessory to cover most of the area with an DoT-inflicting layer and summon Icewolfs in each spared spot.

Ultima the High Seraph

FFXIV Ultima the High Seraph

Ultima starts the battle as a stationary boss on one side of the arena. If you are still familiar with some attacks of the first three bosses from Ridorana Lighthouse, you are already prepared for the first phase of this fight. She is able to freeze a large portion of the platform in front of her, to inflict large damage and debuffs. Upon commencing the second phase, all adventurers should gather in the protective sphere the Zodiac Braves create to avoid certain death. An add will spawn while Ultima charges another powerful attack. Anyone who can should heal be ready to keep up their and the parties' health, as a DoT will tick down rapidly. She becomes mobile after transitioning to the third phase and features also a stepping-based mechanic.

Treasures

Each party in the alliance has their own treasure chest, which contains two random pieces of equipment. As of 4.5, only one piece of equipment can be obtained weekly for each player.

Trivia

  • Mustadio's battle theme is called "Tension", which was also used for the first battle the player meets him in Final Fantasy Tactics.
  • Agrias' battle theme, "Antipyretic", was also featured for the Golgollada Gallows clash. It was the point where Agrias stated her unshaken trust to Ramza.
  • Thunder God's theme, "A Man Consumed", is actually a track from Vagrant Story (another Ivalice Alliance game), named "Grotesque Creature" and used for the final boss battle against Guildenstern. The boss' form looks quite monstrous enough, a fitting link of name.
  • Thunder God's abilities directly allude to his very powerful Swordplay skillset, even using the same names, as of Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. He also wields three swords simultaneously, a further nod to the original characters supreme swordsmanship.
  • In the post-Ultima cutscenes, a majority of the original Final Fantasy Tactics cast appears in spirit form. As depicted in the gallery, characters from left to right: Ladd (the mercenary squire), random male Knight, Lavian & Alicia (Agrias' assistants), the holy knight Agrias herself, the Chocobo Boko(saved in FFT's Chapter 2), Mustadio, Ramza in his Heretic outfit, Cidolfus Orlandeau, the Galthena twins Marach and Rapha, a random female Samurai, a random male Chemist, and Isilud Tengille, the Knightblade.
