A young boy hailing from another world where tales are passed down of the Crystals and the Warriors of Light. The Onion Knight is an orphan who was raised along with three others by an elder in the village of Ur. When he goes to explore the Altar Cave one fateful day, the Wind Crystal enshrined within chooses him as one of four Warriors of Light destined to save the world. This task would send him on a journey where he could share hope with friends who would come and go, ridding the world of the darkness consuming it one step at a time.

Onion Knight (5★) description

The Onion Knight appears as a summonable vision and optional plyable character in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, drawing on design elements of its Dissidia incarnation and representing Final Fantasy III.

Gameplay[]

Onion Knight is a 5-7★ Rare Summon that has been available for summoning since the event Castle Hein (which originally ran in September 2017 in the Global version). His job is listed as Onion Knight, and his role is Physical Damage. He has no innate element or status ailment resistances. His default attack is a 5-hit slash with the Dissidia version of the Onion Sword. His Trust Master reward is the Onion Sword (with an Attack Power of 135). His Super Trust Master reward is the passive Onion's Message ability materia (which increases the equipped unit's ATK +80% if equipped with a sword, and gives Undead Killer).

His awakening materials are the following:

Stats[]

In true Onion Knight fashion, he will earn most of his abilities and base stats near the end of his levels, making him nearly useless without being maxed out (has only 75 base ATK at level 85, but sharply rises after obtaining the passive "Sword Mastery").

Onion Knight's stats at his highest levels are as follows (with no passive abilities taken into account), along with the maximum amount of stat points that can be increased through pot-enhancements:

Rarity Level HP MP ATK DEF MAG SPR Drop Check*(Maximum burst stone drops per hit)
5★ 80 1200 (+240) 60 (+40) 58 (+24) 40 (+16) 42 (+16) 44 (+16) 2 FFBE Limit Burst crystal
6★ 100 3642 (+390) 162 (+65) 158 (+34) 120 (+26) 119 (+26) 125 (+26) 2 FFBE Limit Burst crystal
7★ 120 4734 (+540) 210 (+90) 199 (+65) 177 (+40) 154 (+40) 170 (+40) 2 FFBE Limit Burst crystal

Abilities[]

Onion Knight has four ability slots, but no magic affinity.

Most of Onion Knight's abilities are chaining moves, most of them belonging to the fan-termed "Onion Slice family". All four Splendor abilities, Full Speed Bladeblitz and Onion Slice have the same frames (42-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7-7). By using any of them, he can perfectly chain with Sephiroth's Aeolian Onslaught and Emilia's Throwing Fall, and partially chain with Ace's Tri-beam Laser+2.

While he has no innate element or status ailment resistances, his passive "Sturdy Foundation" gives him immunity to Blind, Paralyze and Petrify. Furthermore, his passive "Guiding Light" increases his resistance to Fire, Water, Wind and Earth by +30%.

Limit Burst

Twin Swords (ツインソード, Tsuin Sōdo?) is Onion Knight's Limit Burst. Somewhat unique, Twin Swords is a 16-hit attack that deals physical damage to all enemies, while also decreasing their DEF and boosting the party's ATK. The buff and debuff effects last for three turns.

The damage modifier, how much the enemy's DEF is reduced, and how much the party's ATK is increased will depend on Onion Knight's LB level:

Rarity Name Change in Effect Cost
5★ Twin Swords Base (Lv. 1) Damage dealt (5.8x); stat reduction and boost by 40% 20 FFBE Limit Burst crystal
Max (Lv. 20) Damage dealt (6.75x); stat reduction and boost by 59%
6★ Twin Swords Base (Lv. 1) Damage dealt (6.8x); stat reduction and boost by 50% 24 FFBE Limit Burst crystal
Max (Lv. 25) Damage dealt (8x); stat reduction (74%) and boost (105%)
7★ Twin Swords Base (Lv. 1) Damage dealt (?x); stat reduction and boost by ???% ? FFBE Limit Burst crystal
Max (Lv. 30) Damage dealt (?x); stat reduction (?%) and boost (?%)

Equipment[]

Onion Knight can equip the following weapon types: daggers, swords, greatswords, katanas, staves, rods, bows, axes, hammers, spears, instruments, throwing weapons and fists.

He can equip the following armor types: light shields, heavy shields, hats, helms, clothes, light armor and heavy armor.

He can equip accessories.

He has exclusive-effect equipment: the Onion equipment, comprised of the Onion Helm, the Onion Armor, the Onion Sword and the Onion Gauntlets. The helm (ATK+15, DEF+20) gives the passive "Healthy"; the light armor (ATK+10, DEF+40) grants him the passive "Naughty"; the sword enables him to use "Bladeblitz" and "Onion Cutter"; and the gaunlets accessory (MP +10%, ATK +15%) enables him to use "Lance+". While Onion Sword is his Trust Master reward, the rest were obtainable during the event Castle Hein by purchasing them from King Mog's shop.

Trivia[]

  • The order in which he learns his "Splendor" abilities (Wind, Fire, Water and Earth) is the same order in which the Crystals are acquired in Final Fantasy III.
  • Onion Knight has white hair (and innate Dual Wield), likely being based off Yoshitaka Amano's artwork of the Unnamed Warrior (Amano Warrior II) for the NES release of the game.
