Casting Haste can be a great way to open the battle, and casting Stop periodically can leave the Wrath Hound vulnerable to attacks. Cloud and Tifa should focus on using Focused Thrust and Focused Strike respectively to stagger it, allowing Tifa to increase its stagger bonus damage with her techniques and with True Strike while Cloud uses Infinity's End. Cloud should remain in Punisher Mode throughout the battle and guard against its attacks, and also use Counterstance often before the Wrath Hound uses Headbutt, to both reduce its damage significantly and deal damage of his own. Tifa should make use of Focused Strike and Starshower in her combos often to avoid its attacks.

On the Prowl is an Odd Job in Chapter 3, "Home Sweet Slum", in Final Fantasy VII Remake, taking place in the Sector 7 Slums. After Cloud Strife and Tifa Lockhart dealt with a rat infestation in the Sector 7 Slums, Wymer offered Cloud a job, impressed by his skills. He asked Cloud to defeat a Shinra Electric Power Company attack dog located in the Scrap Boulevard.

In Hard, Tifa can earn a manuscript, Way of the Fist Vol. IV.

Walkthrough

After talking to Wymer, head to Scrap Boulevard, just west of Wymer, and search the area. If owned, equip the Ice Materia Ice Materia on Cloud, as the target is weak to Ice (and Cloud is the better spellcaster of the two)

The target, Wrath Hound, is found at the very northwestern end of the area. It is a very durable enemy with 6,000 HP, which can use Headbutt to stun a character, meaning one must dodge. Use Blizzard as Cloud, and Tifa's martial techniques embued with Unbridled Strength, to pressure it, then lay into it with attacks. Make sure to block and dodge frequently, as its attacks hit hard, though one can take advantage of the time in between its major attacks. If staggered, use Tifa's martial techniques with Unbridled Strength to increase the damage it can take under stagger. After losing some approximately 1/3 HP, Wrath Hound will flee.

After Wrath Hound flees, head to the southeastern end of Scrap Boulevard, where Wymer will call out to Cloud and Tifa that the hound was driven into another area behind a barricade. Head inside to fight it, where the same strategies as before apply. Once defeated, return to Wymer to complete the quest.

Hard mode tips

The Wrath Hound is significantly more durable than before, and its attacks deal much more damage. The ice materia is once again useful, and can be paired with Elemental Materia Elemental Materia on Cloud or Tifa to great effect. Because of its more powerful attacks, Steadfast Block Materia Steadfast Block Materia is useful, especially on Cloud, and Tifa can greatly benefit from Deadly Dodge Materia Deadly Dodge Materia paired with HP Absorption Materia HP Absorption Materia. Time Materia Time Materia can also be used to great effect, and First Strike Materia First Strike Materia will be beneficial in opening both battles.
