Omega Weapon spawns two Mana Spheres directly above it, variably Red or Green. When a Red Mana Sphere is KO'd by a party member directly in front of it on the field, it will explode and deal damage to Omega Weapon, depending on how many abilities and characters it took to KO it. If a party member other than these two attacks a Red Mana Sphere, it will instantly self-destruct and deal damage equal to its HP to the character that attacked it, breaking the damage cap. Green Mana Spheres act similarly, casting a healing spell on the party when the two party members in front of one KO it, or casting a healing spell on Omega Weapon when attacked by someone else. When a Mana Sphere has been in play for four of its turns, Omega Weapon will absorb it; if it absorbs a Green sphere it uses Absorb to heal itself, and for Red spheres, it will use Nightmare Omega Drive, dealing massive defense-ignoring damage to all characters and almost certainly KO'ing the entire party in one swoop. If the player fails to reduce Omega Weapon to under 150,000 HP before ten Mana Sphers are killed or absorbed, it will use Nightmare Omega Drive anyway.
  +
  +
Aside from Nightmare Omega Drive, Nightmare Omega Weapon uses a wide variety of magical and physical attacks, all of which hit the entire party. It will end each phase of the fight with it with Vengeance, dispelling the party's status buffs, and counters all White Magic, Black Magic, and Ninja-type abilities with Heartless Angel, reducing the HP of all party members to 1. Omega Weapon is immune to all Break effects and its attacks ignore buffs to Resistance, so there is limited use for dedicated support characters here. Characters who can use 5★ [[Combat (Record Keeper)|Combat]] abilities receive Record Synergy in the fight, so physical brawlers are the way to go. The player's healer should be placed in the middle of the party line-up, allowing the other characters to each focus on the Mana Spheres in pairs. While Omega Weapon's damage output is considerable, the healing afforded by KO'ing Green Mana Spheres will allow the player to stay on top of things.
  +
  +
Mana Spheres have just under 17,000 HP, and deal the optimal amount of damage to Omega Weapon when two characters have attacked it with one ability each, so if the player can manage four party members who can pair off and KO the Mana Spheres in such a manner, they can easily stay on top of KO'ing the Mana Spheres regularly and dealing heavy damage to Omega Weapon. However, this will quickly go through the ten Mana Spheres the player can spawn before Omega Weapon uses Nightmare Omega Drive, so do not focus on the Mana Spheres and maintain the attack on Omega as well; as long as the Red Mana Spheres are KO'd before four turns pass, Omega Weapon cannot absorb them and will never use Nightmare Omega Drive.
  +
  +
Once Omega Weapon enters its third phase at just under 150,000 HP, the Mana Spheres stop spawning and Omega Weapon begins its final assault, casting Nightmare Holy, Nightmare Flare, Nightmare Meteor, and Nightmare Forsaken, in that pattern until it is KO'd. Without the Mana Spheres to support them the player will find it difficult to keep the party alive with one healer, so this is the time to go all and bring Omega Weapon down quickly. When it is defeated the player will receive the Omega Drive Record Crystal needed to craft the Rank 6 Combat ability, Omega Drive.

Omega Weapon's field sprite

The Omega Weapon is a superboss found in the Dragons' Den in Final Fantasy VI Game Boy Advance and subsequent releases. Once the Kaiser Dragon has been defeated, revisiting his lair will reveal Omega Weapon in its place. The Omega Weapon is a stronger version of the Ultima Buster. Defeating Omega Weapon in the mobile/Steam version earns the Congratulations! achievement.

Battle

Like Kaiser Dragon, Omega Weapon regenerates when killed and thus has a much higher HP total than its stats state. Unlike Kaiser, Omega's attack patterns are less diverse. Omega Weapon uses Lv. 3 Confuse, Lv. 4 Flare, and Lv. 5 Death. The only status attacks Omega Weapon uses are Freezing Dust and Delta Attack, and he uses them rarely.

Omega Weapon's attacks almost always hit everyone: Gravity Bomb, Launcher, and Heartless Angel can quickly weaken the party. Every so often Omega Weapon will slow down its attacks, gaining the Protect, Shell and Haste statuses, and begins charging a strong attack on its next turn. The attack depends on which "life" Omega Weapon is on: Grand Delta, Mind Blast, or Forsaken. Omega has fewer "lives" than Kaiser, and thus should fall faster.

Strategy

It is best to have upwards of 8,000 HP to be safe. Diabolos and its level up bonuses make this an easy target.

It is recommended to have armor that absorbs elemental damage, or barring this, at least nullifies or resists elements. Party members should be at a level indivisible by 3, 4 or 5. Ribbons are not as important as they were when facing Kaiser. Other good relics to equip are Miracle Shoes and Celestriads.

Having a mage on standby to cast Curaga is helpful. Beneficial statuses like Protect, Shell, and Haste and Reraise are useful. Attacks with the Master's Scroll and the Ultima Weapon are effective, as is dual-casting Ultima. Abuse of Quick is advised.

Etymology

Omega (capital: Ω, lowercase: ω; Greek Ωμέγα) is the twenty-fourth and last letter of the Greek alphabet, representing a longer Latin "o" as well as the "oo" and "ou" IPA vowel clusters. In mathematics, it is synonymous with a set's end or limit. In physics, uppercase omega is the SI abbreviation for the ohm, a unit of electrical resistance.
