Oilboyle is a Triple Triad card in Final Fantasy VIII used to play the minigame and for turning into items with Quezacotl's Card Mod. Oilboyle is the sixty-fourth card in the inventory and the ninth Level 6 card. It depicts the boss Oilboyle fought at the basement of Balamb Garden during the missile aversion mission.

Oilboyle has good values for a Level 6 card, with two 8s in the middle. It is a good card to place in a middle row between two cards as most card players can't beat an 8 without special rules. Its value placements may be also useful for games that use Same and/or Plus.

Obtain[]

There is a 6.3% chance to get an Oilboyle card when successfully using the Card command on a GIM47N or a Cockatrice.

Any AI Triple Triad player who uses Level 6 cards has a chance of using Oilboyle in a play, from where the player can win it in a card match. Examples of players are prisoner in D-District Prison, CC Heart of the Card Club, Grease Monkey in Fishermans Horizon, Cid Kramer, and Laguna Loire. In the end of the game, all CC members besides CC Diamond will play with Level 6 cards when aboard the Ragnarok if the player completed the CC quest before the point of no return.

Card Mod[]

An Oilboyle card refines into 30 Fire Ammo with Quezacotl's Card Mod ability for use in Irvine's Shot. It is a good ammo to have for hitting all enemies at once for fire-elemental damage, and it fires fast as well. A faster way to farm the ammo is to make it from Fuel, however, an item bought from shops. Oilboyle is still a good card to have around for playing the minigame itself.
