The Ogre is an enemy in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Although a rather large monster, he is slow. Most of his attacks hit very hard, and physical attackers may have trouble taking him down due to his relatively high HP.

He is found in few areas, but most notably the Mine of Cathuriges where he appears quite frequently. He usually drops the standard loot table of most mobs, but has the rare drop of Ogre Fang, which is used to craft one of the post-Mythril weapons. He also has been known to drop a few artifacts, most of them focusing on Strength.

Battle[]

The Ogre possesses no magic, but has a few deadly physical attacks. The main one to watch for is his ground pound attack, which he acquires during Cycle two. Although slow, this attack deals moderate damage, huge knockback, and a brief stun. Lilties may find this mob to be a challenge due to their dependence on physical attacks.

Yukes can abuse their quick-casting with Thundara to lock the Ogre down and safely defeat him. Selkies can try to use their ranged focus attacks, but are recommended to equip at least a basic Thunder element. Clavats can mimic either the Yuke or Lilty, or use their own Focus Attacks for a repeating stun lock.

Etymology[]

An ogre is a mythical creature found in West European folklore. Ogres are typically depicted as large, mean-spirited, humanoid monsters that prefer to feed on human beings.
