Odin is a summoned monster in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. He appears as a boss in Chadley Combat Simulator in the Nibel Region and on Gilgamesh Island, and can be used as a summon by the party. Odin is a non-elemental summon and is associated with the power of instant death due to his ultimate attack, Zantetsuken.
Odin is a recurring summon in the Final Fantasy series, and returns from the original Final Fantasy VII.
Characteristics[]

Odin appears as a mode high-definition version of his appearance in Final Fantasy VII, and very similar to how he appeared in Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-. Odin is a one-eyed warrior whose right eye glows red, in juxtaposition to his eight-legged horse, Sleipnir, whose left eye glows red. Odin is clad in form-fitting silver armor, has a golden face plate and helmet with large golden horns and has golden ornamental shoulder guards. He wields a massive blue-bladed sword called Zantetsuken with matching golden ornamentation, and a long blood-hued spear known as Gungnir. His gray horse had eight legs, each with an armored guard and golden metallic shoes. The horse appears hairless bar the mane and tail and is incredibly muscular. Sleipnir wears a saddle to carry Odin on his back.
Odin in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is depicted with more "personality" than in the original game where summons are merely more elaborate magic spells to cast in battle, in that to stall Odin from wiping the party, the party needs to impress him and keep him from getting bored by expertly dodging or parrying his attacks or inflicting him with ailments.
Obtained[]
Odin is available from Chadley Combat Simulator when the player reaches the Nibel Region. Same as with all summons obtained via the Combat Simulator, Odin has three summon crystals in Divine Intel that can be scanned to unlock weaker versions of the fight and leveling the summon materia.
Use[]
Odin specializes in physical non-elemental damage using his sword and spear while riding around the battlefield on Sleipnir. Odin's summoning materia gives a notable strength bonus as well as a minor MP buff. Summoning Odin takes two ATB charges.
Abilities[]

Odin has two commands. Allfather's Fury is a combo of devastating blows that does physical damage to the target it costs one ATB charge. Ring of Helhiem does non-elemental damage in a wide area around Odin, and is his only magic-based attack and costs two ATB charges. His ultimate ability, Zantetsuken, does physical damage to all enemies on field.
Boss[]
Odin is an aggressive boss with numerous physical attacks that he bombards the party with. His boss fight revolves around dodging his attacks while hitting him with weapon abilities to keep him excited. If the player gets hit too many times, he will get disheartened and will sound Gjallarhorn's Warning and soon use Zantetsuken. Zantetsuken will do fixed 9999 damage to the party, resulting in instant death unless the party has Reprieve, Reraise, or Revival Earrings.
On Gilgamesh Island, he is fought alongside Alexander. Odin is incapable of using Zantetsuken so long as Alexander is around and he may leave the battle temporarily when he takes enough damage.
Etymology and allusion[]
Odin (from Old Norse Óðinn) is a widely revered god. In Norse mythology, from which stems most of our information about the god, Odin is associated with healing, death, royalty, the gallows, knowledge, battle, sorcery, poetry, frenzy, and the runic alphabet, and is the husband of the goddess Frigg.
In Germanic mythology,Odin is obtained in the Nibel Region as Odin was originally found in the Shinra Manor in the original Final Fantasy VII. "Nibelheim" also has Norse origins for its name, making it a fitting place for the summon of Norse mythology origin to appear.
