Odin is a one-of-a-kind Triple Triad card in Final Fantasy VIII used to play the minigame and for turning into items with Quezacotl's Card Mod. Odin is the ninety-second card in the inventory and the fourth Level 9 card. It depicts the Odin pseudo-Guardian Force who joins the player party after defeating him in the Centra Ruins.

As a Level 9 GF card, Odin has good values and has one A, which represents the value 10 for the minigame and is unbeatable without special rules. Its value placements may also be useful for games that use Same and/or Plus.

Obtain[]

Odin's card drops when he is defeated as a boss in the Centra Ruins.

If the player completed the Card Club quest before the point of no return (fighting the boss atop the Lunatic Pandora), the club members will appear aboard the Ragnarok in the endgame, from whom the player can win all Level 8–10 cards they do not currently hold in their deck, even the cards they had modified before. This allows the player to modify the Odin card and then win it back.

Odin's card exemplifies how it is possible to hold only one of each type of Level 8–10 card, as Odin's card can be obtained more than once; both the Card Club in the endgame, and the Centra Ruins, can be available simultaneously, and thus the player could get the card from the club members and then defeat Odin at the ruins and get "another" of his card, but the player will still only have one in the inventory. Another way to see this seems like a glitch; the timer for the ruins' completion does not stop as soon as Odin hits zero HP, so if the time runs out during his final battle scripts precisely as the battle is to end, the player can get the battle spoils, but after returning to the field still be ejected to the world map with a message of failure. The player must then battle Odin again, who is still found in his room, and the battle spoils can be obtained for a second time, including Odin's card.

Card Mod[]

The Odin card refines into 100 Dead Spirits, which refine into Death spells. This is not a special item, as the player can easily get 100 Deaths from the Tonberries that are also found in the Centra Ruins. Despite some rumors to the contrary, having Dead Spirits in the inventory does not boost the chance for getting Odin to appear in random encounters.
