Template:Sideicon Template:FFXIII Enemies Template:See Also The Ochu is an enemy in Final Fantasy XIII. It appears only in three places: Aggra's Pasture in Archylte Steppe guarding a treasure orb after triggering a cutscene with the Microchus nearby; as a mark in the Faultwarrens (Mission 39, Titan's Trial C2), and in the Faultwarrens – Gaian Path (D-1) area. In both instances, Microchus accompany Ochu when the player engages the enemy in battle.

Strategy

Ochu may cause some problems for those unadvanced in the Crystarium. One strategy is to start the battle with COM/RAV/SYN or COM/MED/SYN and let the Synergist cast at least Haste and Enfire on everyone. The party can then switch to COM/RAV/RAV or COM/MED/RAV.

The Commando should attack the Ochu and when Ochu uses Screech, the party should switch to MED/SEN/MED, and let the Sentinel take the hits while the Medics heal. The party can then switch to COM/RAV/RAV or COM/MED/RAV. When Ochu is defeated, the Microchus should be easy to handle.

Etymology

"Ochu" comes from Dungeons & Dragons; specifically, it is the otyugh. The name in Japanese (and transliterations) comes from the pronunciation; it is pronounced with a short O and T (practically to a ch), making the pronunciation close to "o-chuugh". "オチュー" is the closest the katakana system can get to representing the sound without using compound katakana pronunciations not natively found in Japanese.
