Final Fantasy XIII-2[]

"Noel's Theme" is the character theme for male protagonist Noel Kreiss. It represents the loneliness he feels due to being the only human left in his time, and his desire and determination to change the future. It first plays when Noel reveals the Time Gate in New Bodhum 3 AF.

"Noel's Theme" has several arrangements: "Full Speed Ahead", a background and battle theme for New Bodhum 3 AF during the night and Bresha Ruins 300 AF; "Memories for the Future", which plays at several cutscenes involving Noel's past and memories; "The Last Hunter", one of the game's main battle themes; and "Noel's Theme - Final Journey -", a lyrical version of the theme, performed by KOKIA, which plays as the background theme for the Dying World 700 AF. The lyrics were written by DAGMUSIC.

"Full Speed Ahead" and "Noel's Theme" are, respectively, the 9th and 12th track of the first disc of the Final Fantasy XIII-2: Original Soundtrack; "The Last Hunter" and "Memories for the Future" are the 3rd and 7th tracks of the second disc of the soundtrack. "Final Journey" is the 7th track of the soundtrack's fourth disc.

"Noel's Theme" is also included in the tracks, "Endless Paradox" and the game's "Closing Credits".

Final Fantasy XIII-2: Original Soundtrack PLUS included four versions of "Noel's Theme": "The Last Hunter_original long edition", "Memories for the Future_another take", "Noel's Theme_guitar demo version", and "Noel's Theme - Final Journey -_AbstractSetOne".

Noel's Theme - Final Journey -[]

The official lyrics were released on the Final Fantasy XIII-2: Original Soundtrack.

Long ago, when I was just a boy
So alone then, last of my kind in the world
I believed futures could be reborn
I would go back in time
Change what's to come
Hunting, searching for futures I've dreamed
Ever chasing, believing visions unseen
Hearing that hope is futile
Only inspires me not to give up
Valhalla is calling me to the end
I can hear now the beating hearts of lost friends
Urging me to not forget them
As the last hunter
I'll find the key

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII[]

It was arranged by Naoshi Mizuta and performed by KOKIA. "Noel and Yeul - The Promise -" is the 19th track on the first disc of the soundtrack and contains elements of "Noel's Theme".

Hearing that hope is futile
Only inspires me not to give up
