Wow, you really do look like your father.
Nick Foley to Evan Townshend
Nick Foley is an operations manager for the Shinra Electric Power Company. He is a manager charged with the resettlement operations established after the Nibelheim Incident. Nick appears in the Final Fantasy VII The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story novel.
History[]
Nick Foley visited Annette Townshend and her son Evan Townshend on the Sector 6 plate. He was aware that Evan was President Shinra's illegitimate son, though Evan himself was not. Annette had been hired to oversee Shinra's Nibelheim resettlement program and Nick planned to accompany the two. Evan took an immediate dislike to Nick. When he learned that they would be leaving Midgar in two days, he responded angrily and left the house. He was unable to return quickly due to the commotion of the Sector 7 plate collapsing. Annette left a note for Evan and headed to Nibelheim with Nick.
Nick held unrequited romantic feelings for Annette. He thought Evan's poor reaction to him had ruined his chances with her. After Meteorfall, Nibelheim suffered great damages and casualties. Shinra did not provide support for the remaining residents. Nick set off for Midgar on a rickety motorbike. He brought photographs of Nibelheim's residents, with the goal of contacting their family members. On the back of the photographs, he had written his name and the phone number of Evan and Annette's Midgar home.
Nick contracted geostigma and became gravely ill. Shortly after finding Goulde Aarde's stepfather Tyran Aarde and providing him with a group photo of Nibelheim's residents, he succumbed to his illness. Tyran sought out the services of Kyrie Canaan, who claimed to be able to communicate with the lifestream, with the hope of finding Goulde. He showed her the photograph given to him by Nick. Evan, who worked with Kyrie, recognized his mother in the photograph and the name and number written on it. In Nibelheim, Goulde explained Nick's position and feelings for Annette. Evan came to sympathize with Nick, who had been nervous about meeting Evan and tried his best to make a good impression. He also realized that Nick had written Evan's household number because he had planned to meet with Evan so they could search for Annette together.
Before her death, Annette wrote several letters to Nick that were never sent. In them, she asked Nick to bring Evan to Eugene Dimitri, provided information on the Sephiroth-clones, and instructed Nick to bring money to Evan.
Characteristics[]
Nick Foley is in his mid-thirties at the time of the Sector 7 plate collapse. At his first meeting with Evan, he wore a gray suit and pastel pink tie with polka dots. He is tall, thin, and, per Evan's description, looked handsome but boring. According to Tyran, Nick went above and beyond his job. He felt responsible for Nibelheim after Shinra abandoned them, and often tried helping its residents.
