A military tactician from the Olderion Federation, and one of the Warden of the Waters, who have protected the Water Shrine for generations. His dedication to his role means that he disregards his own feelings, always choosing the greatest good for the greatest number. Never one to mince words, he is often misunderstood as a cynic.

Official site description

Nichol is one of the main characters of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. A respected tactician and commander from the Olderion Federation, he was born to the Wardens of the Waters line that has ruled Olderion for generations. He is the older brother of Luka and Elle, and through him, Arsha's brother-in-law.

Profile

Appearance

Nichol has sea foam green eyes and light blue hair. He wears a white longcoat, a light blue scarf wrapped around his neck, a dark blue waistcoat, dark grey trousers, as well as white gloves and boots.

Personality

Faced with a choice between saving one life or one hundred lives...you must choose the hundred. That is the creed of the tactician.

Nichol

Nichol is usually serious, knowledgeable and detached, but can be rather harsh towards those he considers too careless, for which he is often misunderstood as a cynic. However, while he is strict and "difficult to deal with", according to his brother Elle, Nichol always puts his duties as a Warden of the Waters first, always choosing the greatest good for the greatest number.

Although his dedication to his duties means that he needs to disregards his own feelings – even those he has for his family –, he does care for his brother and sister. Due to him being an excellent tactician, most Olderion soldiers have absolute faith in his abilities, although some consider him to be a "cold-blooded tyrant".

He is far from emotionless however, as he does soften to an extent with the party, although his stoic remarks remain a constant. He also develops a murderous grudge against Veritas of the Waters due to all the atrocities she committed against her nation and his family, turning into a obsession deep enough for him to display uncharacteristic violence. After learning of her circumstances and with encouragement of his friends, he reconsiders and is able to move forward. He also uses this newfound experience to convince Veritas of the Light into abandoning her own vengeful quest, which earns them the affection of the two Paladians.

Through some undisclosed circumstances he develops a "bromance" friendship with Jake, with the latter teaching him his experience in love affairs. Although Nichol still believes Jake to be a perverted, lecherous and licentious individual, he does find this friendship fruitful and Jake's advices to be amusing.

No. 304: A military tactician for the Olderion Federation, and one of the Wardens of the Waters, who have protected the Water Shrine for generations. His dedication to his role means that he disregards his own feelings, always choosing the greatest good for the greatest number. Never one to mince words, he is often misunderstood as a cynic.
No. 305: A military tactician for the Olderion Federation. He is the eldest of his family, the Wardens of the Waters. Though he puts his duties as a Warden first, seemingly taking his family for granted, deep down he really cares for his brother and sister. It seems his sister Luka can see down to his true clumsy nature.
No. 306: A military tactician for the Olderion Federation. He was given a great many books on magic as a young child, as their were high expectations of him being of the Wardens of the Waters. Raised in isolation from other children his age, he took a deep interest instead in the people he read about in books. Among these characters, he took particular interest in a legendary female warrior from an army of darkness.
Entries for different versions of Nichol.

Born to the ancestral line of the Warden of the Waters, Nichol was raised in isolation from other children his age, and had to study many books on magic as a young child. He had to act like one of the adults and prove himself a worthy successor to the line, to protect Olderion and the Water Crystal. Eventually, while his sister became the Water Priestess, Nichol became a tactician.

Spoilers end here.

Gameplay

Nichol's job is listed as Tactician. His main roles are Magical Damage and Support. He has affinity to both and Black Magic (Levels 5-7) and Green Magic (Levels 3-5). He is a story unit that can be obtained during Chapter III upon the completion of the Water Shrine dungeon. He starts at Rarity 3★, and can be awakened up to 5★. He can equip a small range of weapons (which includes daggers, staves and rods) and armor (hats, clothes, robes) as well as accessories.

Nichol has two variants: For the Japan-only collaboration with Monster Hunter Explore, the limited-time "Hunter Nichol" (4-6★) unit was released. During the Halloween 2017 event, the GL-exclusive "Illusionist Nichol" (4-6★) was obtainable.

For Season Two, "Maritime Strategist Nichol" (洸洋の軍師ニコル, Kōyō no Gunshi Nikoru?, lit. Ocean's Strategist Nichol), a 5-6★ Rare Summon, has been available since June 2018. His job is now listed as Strategist, instruments and light armor are added to his equipment selection, and his skillset has been totally reworked. Nichol is a top-tier "buffer", able to boost stats, recover MP, mitigate damage taken, and increase elemental resistances. Like the other CG units, Nichol's Limit Burst ("Ancient Formula") is a special CG movie and has a powerful effect: it boosts the party's stats, removes stat reductions, and restores HP and MP.

Maritime Strategist Nichol appeared as a guest unit in his own introduction quest as well as 5 stages from the When Destinies Intersect event (Forced Journey, Where Destinies Intersect, A Documented Riddle, Miraculous Escape).

Nichol also appears as a boss on the stage Grieving Knoll - The Strategist's Plan. He summons two visions to fight alongside him: Charlotte and Lawrence.
