Nhagi'a Jakkya is a non-player character in Final Fantasy XIV. He is the younger brother of Kipih Jakkya. Nhagi'a Jakkya was mentioned several times by Kipih and appeared during seasonal event The Rising.
History[]
Early life[]
When Nhagi'a was ten, his parents died and Kipih took care of him. Kipih was already a reporter for The Raven and her work took her to many places. From her, Nhagi'a heard about adventurers and came to admire them.[1]
With the arrival of the Calamity, Nhagi'a fled with his sister to a village in the mountains in the borders of Gridania, where their aunt lived, and took refuge. They would be safe from the cataclysm caused by Bahamut. Nhagi'a Jakkya was isolated in a village in the mountains. Inspired by the adventurers his sister interviewed before the Calamity, Nhagi'a dreamed of becoming an adventurer and traveling the world.
The Rising 2022[]
When he turned sixteen, Nhagi'a Jakkya began his adventurous journey. He took a carriage and arrived in Ul'dah during the Rising. As soon as he arrived in the city-state, he is greeted by the Warrior of Light who offers to guide him. The Warrior of Light instructed him to register with the Adventurers' Guild.
After Momodi Modi registered Nhagi'a Jakkya, she asked the Warrior of Light to introduce the city-state and recommend a guild in Ul'dah for Nhagi'a Jakkya to join. Upon hearing the Warrior of Light's advice, Nhagi'a chose to enroll in either the Pugilists' Guild or the Alchemists' Guild. He runs to one of the guilds, but not before asking to meet again later. When the boy does not return after a long time, the Warrior of Light decides to look for him in the guild. After the Warrior of Light finds Nhagi'a at the guild, he apologizes for keeping him waiting and informs him that a peculiar minstrel has approached him with a task. Interestingly, the Warrior of Light's presence was also requested.
Upon meeting with the wandering minstrel, he revealed that in seeking inspiration for his next composition, he planned to bring together the Warrior of Light and Nhagi'a, an old adventurer and a new adventurer, in a reminder that the present owes its existence to the past. Having thus established his vision, the minstrel then asks each to bring an object related to the Calamity. Excited about his first task as an adventurer, Nhagi'a suggests searching the Sapphire Avenue Exchange.
After they return, Nhagi'a reveals that the object he has chosen is the scrapbook of articles taken from The Raven, the Gridanian tabloid where his sister works as a reporter. During the Calamity, said sister traveled the realm, interviewing adventurers about their journeys, and her tales instilled in him a desire to see the world. After seeing the objects they each chose, the minstrel was inspired to compose a verse. After hearing the verse, Nhagi'a said goodbye and said he had found the courage to go his own way.[2]
The Make It Rain Campaign 2023[]
Nhagi'a was present in the Manderville Gold Saucer during the Make it Rain campaign, during which the Warrior of Light helped his sister earn an exclusive interview with the proprietor of the Gold Saucer, Godbert Manderville. During the event, he helped a lost child find her mother.[3]
The Rising 2023[]
Kipih Jakkya, was supposed to meet her brother Nhagi'a during the Rising celebration, but he didn't show up. Kipih asked Warrior of Light to help her find Nhagi'a. After investigating, they discovered that Nhagi'a was doing work for the Wandering Minstrel, who was organizing an exhibition called the letter forest, which displays letters of gratitude and encouragement written anonymously. To collect letters from outside Ul'dah, the man dispatched a chocobo carriage with Nhagi'a as an escort. However, the carriage was late.
Kipih and the Warrior of Light go in search of the carriage and Nhagi'a. Arriving at the location, they find the carriage being attacked by bandits and the Warrior of Light scares them off. When the brothers are reunited, Nhagi'a declares that he needs to get stronger to win Kipih's approval. Nhagi'a then heads to Ul'dah with the carriage to complete his delivery. Nhagi'a criticizes himself for needing his help to complete his task. His obsession with doing everything himself does not please Kipih, who declares that she can no longer allow him to be an adventurer. If he wanted to remain one, he should think about why he embarked on this path in the first place.[4]
At the Weavers' Guild, the siblings open their hearts to each other. Nhagi'a declares that he will no longer be obsessed with doing everything himself, having remembered why he became an adventurer. Relieved, Kipih takes the opportunity to remind him of how, as a boy, he told her that he simply wanted to be a free-spirited adventurer who traveled the world and helped those in need. Sad to see that boy go astray, Kipih spoke harshly, but it was never her intention to deny him his calling, and she supports him wholeheartedly now as he continues on his path. Nhagi'a reveals that he is leaving to Limsa Lominsa and joining an expedition and Kipih presents him with a new set of clothes.[1]
