A Spellblade from Final Fantasy Tactics A2

(Mystic Knight, 魔法剣士?, lit. Magic Fencer), also known as Sorcerer, Spellblade or Spell Fencer, is a recurring job in the Final Fantasy series. Skilled in both magic and swordsmanship, they fuse both arts into Spellblade. They are also resistant to magic as a whole.

Appearances

Final Fantasy V

The Mystic Knight fuses Black and White Magic into the sword (s)he wields to smite enemies with their Spellblades

Final Fantasy VII

While not having an actual job system, in early development, Cloud was labled as a "Berserker (Mystic Knight)". While this was scrapped, he does retain high Strength and can use Magic efficiently.

Final Fantasy IX

Final Fantasy IX has a strong allusion to this job. Provided Vivi is in the party and not incapacitated, Steiner can use Sword Magic with Vivi's aid. Only damaging Black Magic spells (e.g. Fire) can be used as Sword Magic, not status-inducing spells (e.g. Slow), and Vivi must know the spell in question. The attack uses Steiner's turn and MP, and does not affect Vivi's MP or ATB gauge.

Final Fantasy XI

The upcoming expansion Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin brings with it the Rune Fencer job, described as "quick with a blade as well as an incantation", similar to the style of the Mystic Knight.

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift

The Spellblade is a job exclusive to the viera, which uses Blade Arts to inflict negative statuses onto their enemies.

Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light

Spell Fencers enchant their weapons with magic spells to deal more damage to their foes, and can also shield themselves from magic. Krinjh joins the player's party as a Spell Fencer.

Bravely Default: Flying Fairy

The Magic Swordsman job will be present in this game.

Dissidia Final Fantasy

The Mystic Knight appears in the form of a Job Card in the Duel Colosseum of Dissidia Final Fantasy. Its effects make card luck easier to rise while it is selected.

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy

The Mystic Knight card reappears in the new Labyrinth mode, but this time increases the chances of party cards appearing.

The Mystic Knight is also is also an advanced job that can be assigned once unlocked for a character in a party in Quick Battle or wireless matches, reducing damage by half and attacks x2 in critical condition.
