Mumuepo is a non-playable character from Final Fantasy XIV. He is the former guildmaster of the Thaumaturges' Guild at Arrzaneth Ossuary.

History[]

Final Fantasy XIV (version 1.0)[]

FFXIV 1x Mumuepo

Mumuepo in version 1.0.

When the adventurer asks about necromancy in the Thaumaturges' Guild, Mumuepo appears claiming that simply talking about it is taboo. Mumuepo guesses that it was F'lhaminn who told the adventurer about the dark arts and sent him to the guild. In a private conversation, Mumuepo claims to know nothing about necromancy.[1]

FFXIV 1x Mumuepo and Corguevais

Mumuepo and Corguevais talking in secret.

During Warburton's funeral, Mumuepo tells F'lhaminn that there is no thaumaturgical means of raising the dead and offers to use his spells on Ascilia to extract information, but F'lhaminn refuses in an effort to protect her. As the funeral comes to an end, the adventurer sees Mumuepo and Corguevais talking in secret. Mumuepo sympathizes with Corguevais' plight and reveals a confidential piece of information. This information is never revealed,[1] but it drastically changes Corguevais' behavior and he tries to take Ascilia back to Ala Mhigo, but runs away and leaves her behind.[2]

In an attempt to revive Warburton, Niellefresne enlists the help of Mumuepo. He hands the Heartstrike artifact to Niellefresne, stating that it can be used for necromancy. As soon as Mumuepo leaves the crypt, a hooded figure stabs Niellefresne in the back and the gem shatters on the ground. Due to the effect of the dagger, Niellefresne's body would refrain from decomposing.[2]

Tales from the Calamity[]

During the Calamity, when protesters marched toward Arrzaneth Ossuary, Mumuepo ordered anyone who pressed further to be incinerated. The Sultana Nanamo Ul Namo, who was present, questioned this order. Escorted by Pipin and Papashan, as well as Cocobuki and his four brothers, she held a dissent to calm the riot.

Some days later, Nanamo issued a decree stripping Mumuepo of all official titles and accompanying privileges. Though such an act would ordinarily have been beyond her authority, it was made possible owing to clever maneuvering on Pipin's part. Evidence of rampant corruption was found, with the high priest in its midst, and his order had no choice but to abide by the sultana's will. In place of the incarcerated Mumuepo, the five Lalafellin brothers were made joint masters of the Thaumaturges' Guild.[3]
