The Elvaan must never fall behind foreigners, in power or faith.

Muchavatte P Couchiret

Muchavatte P Couchiret is a non-playable Elvaan character in Final Fantasy XI. He was the papsque of the Kingdom of San d'Oria at least ten years before the Crystal War. As his nation's spiritual leader, he exerted great influence over his people and fostered an air of hostility toward other races and cultures. Though the San d'Orian cathedral had long sought a physical entrance to Paradise, Muchavatte revolutionized the church's teachings by declaring that the gate to this realm existed only in a person's heart.

Following his death in the post-war period, Muchavatte was succeeded as papsque by Shamonde.
