Mt. Hobs is a location in Final Fantasy IV and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. It is a mountain situated between Damcyan and Fabul. According to NPCs in Fabul in The After Years, when a Monk's training reaches a certain level of skill, they are required to make a pilgrimage to Mt. Hobs, where they train to hone their power to its apex.

FFIV Yang Surrounded GBA

Yang surrounded by enemies.

Cecil Harvey, Rosa Joanna Farrell, Rydia, and Edward Chris von Muir must cross this mountain on the way to Fabul, however, it is protected by a thick layer of ice. Only Rydia, a Summoner, can melt the ice because only she can use Black Magic. However, Rydia is afraid of fire because her village was destroyed in a fire. Rosa comforts her and convinces her to cast the spell. She is able to melt the ice and from thereafter can cast Fire in battle.

On the mountain summit, the group finds Yang Fang Leiden, the captain of the Monks of Fabul, fighting a group of monsters sent by Golbez. He is the only one left alive, and is able to defeat most of the lesser monsters. However, Cecil and his friends are forced to help him defeat the powerful Mom Bomb. After the Mom Bomb is defeated, Cecil and his friends convince Yang to accept their help, and that these monsters were a diversion so Golbez and the Red Wings could attack a defenseless castle. The group then heads for Fabul.

Final Fantasy IV -Interlude-[]

Cecil, Rosa and Yang traverse Mt. Hobs when they receive word that a troop of Fabul monks were seen being attacked. After rescuing the two monks and fighting off the Dad Bomb, they inform Yang that his wife Sheila is going into labor, and the five continue on to Fabul.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[]

During Yang's tale, Yang and some monks head to Mt. Hobs to find Ursula, who is fighting enemies, and are all attacked by a Mom Bomb. Afterwards, the party heads towards the Impact Crater to investigate it, and head through Mt. Hobs again when they return to protect the Crystal at Fabul as the Second Battle of Fabul breaks out.
