Moore is a town in Final Fantasy V in Galuf's world and the merged world. It is a remote town close to the Guardian Tree. In Galuf's world, it is adjacent to the Great Forest of Moore, where evil spirits were sealed after the sealing of the Void. In the merged world, the Pyramid of Moore and the Desert of Shifting Sands take the place of the Great Forest.

Moore is spared from the destruction when Exdeath summons the newly released Void.

Geography[]

Moore is surrounded by mountains and forest. In Galuf's world, these mountains block it off from the rest of the world, and the only way to reach it are either via submarine or via wind drake by landing on a single tile of plain west of town. In the merged world, mountains no longer surround it and it can be accessed on foot.

Moore is a quiet, remote town, with residents expressing surprise upon meeting visitors.[1] The town is home to the standard pub, inn, and a few shops, and has no major points of interest. Residents have knowledge of the nearby Guardian Tree, and of the forest's wood sprites.[1]

Quests[]

Moore is an entirely optional village, though it is worthwhile to visit on the way to the Great Forest of Moore for equipment.

Piano[]

The party leader can play a piano at the pub. Playing all the pianos acquires Hero's Rime after showing the newfound pianist skills to the bard in Crescent. The piano in Moore is the seventh the player is likely to encounter, and if they played all the previous pianos, the party leader will play an excerpt from Mozart's "Rondo Alla Turca".

Chicken Knife and Brave Blade[]

In the merged world, the Brave Blade or Chicken Knife can be obtained in Moore by entering the house blocked in the second world.

Brave Blade or Chicken Knife

The secret path leads to Brave Blade and Chicken Knife in the merged world.

Chicken Knife is the strongest knife, and can potentially surpass even Ragnarok if the player runs away 255 times (as a sword, the Ragnarok only benefits from Strength, while the Chicken Knife benefits from both Strength and Agility). The Chicken Knife has 127 Attack; it grants +5 Speed; and when attacking with it, it has a 25% chance of making the party run from the fight. Commands other than Attack, such as Rapid Fire and Mug, bypass the auto-running trait.

Brave Blade is one of the most powerful weapons in the original SNES, Anthology and Pixel Remaster versions, being surpassed by a few weapons in the Advance and the defunct mobile and Steam versions. Brave Blade loses power each time the user runs from battle, and even the escapes from before the weapon is obtained count. At its maximum power it is stronger than Ragnarok. However, should the user run even once, the weapon will greatly weaken. It has a starting Attack Power of 150, and grants +5 Strength.

To be able to make the choice between either the Chicken Knife or the Brave Blade, the player must head to the left of the Moore inn and go as far as possible, then go down to two barrels in a line next to a tree, head in front of the barrels and descend into the small building and into the woods. In the woods the directions are: down, right, down, left, up, right, down. On the last direction, the party will freeze and the screen will go fuzzy, then two boxes and an old man will appear. He tells the player to pick a box, one with the Chicken Knife, and one with the Brave Blade.

When the player chooses a weapon, the man turns into a skeleton and walks away while making chicken sounds. He does not make chicken sounds in the Japanese text–instead, he has an unusual laugh, combining hiragana and katakana, giving off an eerie vibe.

Musical themes[]

The background music in Moore is the Final Fantasy V "Town Theme".
