Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings description
Moonstone (ムーンストーン, Mūnsutōn?), also known as Moon Stone, is a recurring item in the Final Fantasy series.

Final Fantasy VIII[]
Stone with monsters living inside it.
Description
Moon Stone is an item dropped from Elnoyle (tier 2 at level 20-39), Imp (tier 2 at level 40+), and Torama (tier 2 at level 20-39, and tier 3 at level 40+), or stolen from Elnoyle (tier 2 at level 20-39 and tier 3 at level 40+). Moon Stone x1 can be used to refine Holy spell x20 (L Mag-RF) or Holy Stone x1 (Tool-RF).
Final Fantasy IX[]
The Moonstone is an item and an add-on that teaches the abilities Beast Killer and Shell. It can be used as a restorative item in battle, healing HP equal to the amount of Moonstones in the player's inventory times 52. However, the player should not do this as Moonstones are limited. If a Moonstone is equipped on Eiko, Carbuncle will change its ability to Pearl Light, granting the party Shell status.
There are four Moonstones in the game. One is won from the theater minigame by impressing all 100 nobles, then talking to Queen Brahne as Steiner. Another is found on Conde Petie Mountain Path by inserting all four colored stones into a shrine. Using an Emerald on the friendly Jabberwock any time after gaining access to the Forgotten Continent yields a Moonstone, and the last one can be bought from Stiltzkin when he returns to Alexandria. Earning all four yields the Over the Moon achievement/trophy in the versions with an achievements system (the player does not need to have all moonstones in the inventory at the same time, they just need to get all four).
As the quantity of Moonstones is limited, it is suggested that players only uses one: the one needed for the friendly Feather Circle to advance the friendly monsters sidequest. One could also be used in synthesis to make a Pearl Rouge.
Final Fantasy XI[]
A white jewel.
