FF4PSP Enemy Ability Embrace

Embrace (PSP).

Moonmaidens counter physical attacks with slashes of their own. They can use Embrace, which restores a target's HP but inflicts instant Petrification, which should be cured immediately.

Strategy[]

Moonmaidens are not too difficult to defeat, as a single Bahamut or Leviathan is enough to take them down. Inflicting Confuse on the Moonmaiden with items such as the Faerie Rod causes her to use only Embrace on herself or other enemies.

Edge can steal Artemis Arrows (39% chance) from the Moonmaiden and sell them for 10,000 gil to earn quick money.

Etymology[]

A moon maiden is either a woman of the moon or a goddess of the moon.

The Moonmaiden's SNES and PS name, "Kary", is identical to the name used to refer to the snake-like Marilith in the NES version of the original Final Fantasy.

In the GBA translation, she is called "Selene Guardian." Selene means "moon" in Greek. In Greek mythology, Selene is the goddess of the moon. She is the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, and sister of the sun-god Helios, and of Eos, goddess of the dawn. Her equivalent in ancient Roman religion and myth is Luna, Latin for "moon".
