A blazing heat sweeps over the land, and as the cities find themselves festooned with decorations, it can only mean the Moonfire Faire is upon us. Rumor has it the event committee has a special surprise in store this year to keep festivalgoers cool—frosty treats that are guaranteed to please and leave any reservations about spending time out in the sun on ice.

Lodestone description.[1]

Costa del Sol Screams for Ice Cream was the 2021 edition of the seasonal event Moonfire Faire in Final Fantasy XIV.

The event was started by accepting the sidequest Unseasonable Chills Unseasonable Chills by talking to Mayaru Moyaru at the Aftcastle in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:11.5 Y:13.8).

History[]

According to Mayaru Moyaru, the feature of this year's festivities would be a delicious dessert ordered by the ever-generous Master Gegeruju, and his colleagues would welcome the help of the Warrior of Light to prepare it. Haermaga said that it is missing ice, which was the main ingredient for the dessert. P'obyano said that the person in charge of creating the dessert was a renowned confectioner named Nekeke. She left for the northern seas in search of the best ice in all of Eorzea and had not yet returned.[2]

As P'obyano ponders what might have happened, she is interrupted by a scream coming from the beach. P'obyano confirms that it is none other than Nekeke who seems to be drowning in the water. Rescued, Nekeke gathers her fragmented memories and recounts her anguish. In retrieving a piece of pure ice from the harsh northern islands, it appears that she has inadvertently brought with her a particularly stormy demon that was responsible for sinking her ship and now threatens to wreak havoc on the typically peaceful shores of Costa del Sol. P'obyano is quick to assure her, however, that they are more than prepared for the task of stopping this threat.[2]

Informing Haermaga of the situation, he is heartened when a contingent of veteran fighters appear out of nowhere to help him dispatch the Bombard threat. With Bombard defeated, Nekeke was able to get to work on dessert.[2]

Nekeke goes into the kitchen to begin work on her latest masterpiece. Meanwhile P'obyano shares a history of her and Nekeke's past. Friends since childhood, the two had long admired adventurers and chose to pursue their current professions as a tribute to these adventurers. Nekeke then cheerfully announced that the dessert that will be the feature of this year's festivities is almost ready. With everyone assembled, Nekeke and her fellow bears perform the final confection.[3]
