The sizzling sun and distant boom of fireworks can only mean one thing-the Moonfire Faire is on its way!
Indeed, the event committee has spared no effort in preparing a celebration like no other, yet their hard work may be for naught if reports from the Fishermens’ Guild are to be believed.
What dangers could be lurking beneath the waves of Costa del Sol? Rich rewards await those with the courage to find out!Lodestone description.[1]
Summer Shark Blowout! was the 2020 edition of the seasonal event Moonfire Faire in Final Fantasy XIV.
The event was started by accepting the sidequest
A Fish Too Far by talking to Mayaru Moyaru at the Aftcastle in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:11.5 Y:13.8).
History[]
Reports from the Fishermen's Guild reported of a giant man-eating shark terrorizing the shores of Costa del Sol, and the Moonfire Faire hosts desperately sought help to ward off this threat before anyone was hurt. Mayaru Moyaru has asked the Warrior of Light to come to the location to help with the problem.[2]
Haermaga reported that Gegeruju has begun assembling a special team of researchers to combat this maritime menace and has asked the Warrior of Light to stand guard with him while he awaits their arrival. Soon the terrible shark emerges from the waters, causing the revelers to run for their lives. As the Warrior of Light prepared for a fight, Thracie, leader of the self-styled Bombardiers, asked to stand aside. Her goal was to use the kobold Ba Go's expertise in explosives to launch the shark back to the depths from whence it came. To do this, they built an artificial Bombard, the very threat that spurred the start of the Moonfire Faire. Although Haermaga is skeptical of their methods, it is the best plan available. The Bombarders intended to control the artificial Bombard by means of a traditional Lalafellin dance known as the flame dance. She teaches the steps to the Warrior of Light, explaining that it can be used to stoke the Bombard's flames for combat or to reignite them when they are weak. The Bombard exploded sending the shark running back into the ocean.[2]
Haermaga is surprised at the outcome of the random plan. Thracie ponders how such a huge, wild creature ended up on the shores of the Costa del Sol, and just as she is about to put the matter aside, she is taken aback by the sudden appearance of a miniature monster at her heels. Captain Foerzagyl of the Endeavour said that he was looking for the tiny shark, which has been his faithful companion since he was pulled out of the ocean during a fishing trip. Disregarding any connection between the two creatures, Foerzagyl rushes back to his ship and decides to settle for a job well done and a summer well rescued.[2]
Haermaga congratulates the Warrior of Light on behalf of the Adventurers' Guild before informing him that Gegeruju has expressed great interest in the dance that saved his faire. Gegeruju thanks him personally before requesting that Warrior of Light organize a performance of the flame dance. He seems most interested in making it a permanent part of the festivities and seems particularly interested in seeing his Miqo'te dancers learn the steps.[3]
