Monster is a section from the Final Fantasy VIII Ultimania. It is the sixth chapter of the book and it details the enemies of Final Fantasy VIII. It gives various stats, descriptions, elemental properties, status resistances and spells that can be drawn. Since the Ultimania is a Japanese only publication, the enemy names are written in Japanese. To see the enemies Japanese names, they can be found here. For numerous instances of a boss with the same name, the Ultimania uses "(1回目)".
The same order of enemies also appears in the The Official Strategy Guide by Piggyback Interactive, however the enemies are not numbered.
The entry for Sacred covers both battles. Sphinxaur and Sphinxara are listed under the same entry with their names separated with a slash. In the Ultimania the image only shows Sphinxaur, while the Piggyback Interactive strategy guide shows both. In the Ultimania the five bosses involved in the final battle are not included as the guide aims to avoid spoilers, while in the Piggyback guide the enemies are omitted but the guide does mention the final bosses elsewhere.

Etymology
monster is any creature, usually found in legends or horror fiction, that is often hideous and may produce fear or physical harm by its appearance or its actions. The word "monster" derives from Latin monstrum, meaning an aberrant occurrence, usually biological, that was taken as a sign that something was wrong within the natural order.
