You can see me, kupo? Then you two must be very, very special people. In that case... Welcome to the Moogle Emporium! I'm the owner—Moggie!

Moggie is a minor character in Final Fantasy VII Remake. He is a young boy living in the Sector 5 Slums who dresses in a moogle costume, resembling the moogle from the Chocobo & Moogle summon. He runs the Moogle Emporium where the player can buy items with Moogle Medals, special coins earned from smashing boxes, from treasures, and from playing Whack-a-Box.

Moggie believes himself to truly be a moogle, even interjecting random "kupos" into his speech, while stating that Cloud and Aerith can only see him due to their pure hearts. Aerith explains to Cloud that "Mog the Moogle" is a famous fairy tale where Mog wanted to bring happiness to all the moogles of the forest, and opened a shop of wonders. Mog is a recurring name for a moogle in the Final Fantasy series.

Moggie is located in the Children's Secret Hideout adjacent to the Center District. He can be visited both in Chapter 8, "Budding Bodyguard", and Chapter 14, "In Search of Hope".

Farming Moogle Medals[]

Moogle Medal farming spot in Chapter 10.

Moogle Medals have a small drop rate from any breakable boxes through the game. It is possible to quickly farm them by saving and reloading at areas with lots of boxes; by reloading the save file, the boxes will respawn. One of the best spots is at Chapter 10, "Rough Waters", in a small area at the "Aqueduct 1" of the Sector 7 Sewers, at a dead end that has 14 boxes stacked together.

Repeatedly playing Whack-a-Box also racks up the medals.

Behind the scenes[]

Co-director Motomu Toriyama has explained that there are many passionate moogle medal collectors even among adults, and Moggie can thus trade for the rare items he offers Cloud. Moggie is an example of how even kids living in the Sector 5 undercity are tough and resourceful.[2]
