This article lists all allusions present in Mobius Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy series[]

  • Wol appears to be a quintessential Warrior of Light, a recurring concept in the series that debuted in the original Final Fantasy.
  • Wol's jobs are recurring jobs from the Final Fantasy series.
  • The original Warrior of Light assumes the name "Cid" once he retires, a recurring name in the series.
  • Cid had a younger brother named "Mid", another recurring name related to Cid.

Final Fantasy[]

  • The concept of Mobius' entire (original) story arc is a reinterpretation and deconstruction of the storyline of the original Final Fantasy.
  • There is a character called "Sarah Cornelia", a reference to Sarah and her hometown, Cornelia. Both characters are also princesses.
  • There is a character called "Garland", a reference to the antagonist.
  • The main antagonist shares the same name as the character from Final Fantasy.
  • The song "Chaosbringer" uses pieces of the battle theme.
  • The world is locked in an endless cycle on behalf of Chaos.
  • The first chapter takes places at a locale called Plains of Cornelia.

Final Fantasy II[]

Final Fantasy III[]

  • The track that plays in certain quest zones (e.g. approaching the central temple in El Dorado) and when accepting arena battles is an arrangement of "To the Mountain Top".

Final Fantasy V[]

  • There is a stage called "Galuf's Hill" in the Ishtar Desert.
  • The track that plays for arena battles is largely an arrangement of "The Dawn Warriors".

Final Fantasy VIII[]

  • One of Squall's fight scenes with Ultimecia plays out in similar fashion to duel between the former and Seifer depicted in the opening FMV.

Final Fantasy X[]

  • Monsters are called fiends as is with the case in Final Fantasy X.
  • Players who pre-registered to the game could obtain Tidus's Brotherhood as a weapon for Wol.
  • One of the ability cards in the game depicts Yuna. When used in battle, the beginning of the Hymn of the Fayth plays.
  • There is a stage called the "Shoopuf Farm" in The Last Stand.
  • The storyline of the Final Fantasy X collaboration event, "Dream Within a Dream", is officially part of Final Fantasy X's canon, with Tidus' consciousness having been called to Palamecia at some point after entering the Farplane, and returning to Spira in time to be resurrected at the end of Final Fantasy X-2.

Final Fantasy XI[]

  • The animation of the Dark Knight's ultimate attack, Chaosbringer, is similar to that of Zeid's signature weaponskill, Abyssal Strike; both feature the sword being wreathed in a pink energy field before striking the enemy with the sound of shattering glass.

Final Fantasy XII[]

Final Fantasy XIII[]

  • When Wol and Sarah stop Chaos during his reincarnation after the final battle, they along with Meia are spirited away and trapped in crystal. In Final Fantasy XIII, when a l'Cie completes their Focus they are turned into a crystal.

Final Fantasy XIII-2[]

  • Wol bears a physical resemblance to Hope Estheim's Final Fantasy XIII-2 appearance.
  • The moogle is a model edit of Mog. Other moogles also use various model modifications of Mog.
  • Sarah's weapon of choice is a bow. Serah, who bears a similar name, wields a weapon that can transform into a bow.
  • Gilgamesh's likeness, and his signature theme, "Clash on the Big Bridge", are based on his adventures in Final Fantasy XIII-2.
  • Garland intended to use the Gate of Hope to leave Palamecia together with Sarah as he was tired of the endless cycles of Chaos's rebirth and wanted to free Sarah from her role as a beacon of hope. Caius Ballad wanted to disrupt the timeline to end Paddra Nsu-Yeul's cycle of rebirth.
  • The Challenge Lightning Resurrection takes place somewhere between the events of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. At first Lightning claims to be "once known as "Lightning" and has memories of someone known as such", a likely reference to Bhunivelze purging her of Serah's heart.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII[]

  • The motif of filling people's hearts with hope is similar to the motif of saving people's hearts from drowning in despair and filling them with hope.
  • The Gate of Hope's purpose is taking away hope accumulated via Warrior of Light's exploits that end with Chaos's defeat and send it to another world where hope does not exist. The manmade Cocoon, Bhunivelze, serves a similar purpose: at the end of the game Oerba Dia Vanille and Oerba Yun Fang guide the souls of the dead to it which then would be transferred to the new world.
  • Chaos cleansing the humanity of memories each time he is defeated to allow a new Warrior of Light to arise and gather hope is similar to what Order of Salvation on Bhunivelze's behalf wanted to perform with the help of Vanille and holy clavis as they wanted to purge the Chaos from souls allowing the people to start anew in the new world without the burden of memories of the people who didn't make it.
  • Red Dragon reuses the model for Zaltys.
  • The track that plays for arena battles contains elements of "Overclock".
