The Meteor Parasite (メテオパラサイト, Meteo Parasaito?) is the source of Miasma in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
Story
Edit
The Tipa Caravan encounters the parasite deep within the cave of the mountain. After it was defeated, the caravan was pulled away to another dimension by Raem, but returned after his defeat. The parasite had one HP left and could not fight back.
When it was defeated, most of the world's Miasma disappeared. However, as shown in later games, the Miasma Streams would still remain.
Gameplay
Edit
The Meteor Parasite is the boss in Mount Vellenge.
Etymology
Edit
meteor or "shooting star" is the visible streak of light from a meteoroid or micrometeoroid, heated and glowing from entering the Earth's atmosphere, as it sheds glowing material in its wake. Meteors rarely explode in the Earth's atmosphere. The term has become associated with quickness with the adjective "meteoric." In the context of myth and superstition, meteors and comets sighted in Ancient and Medieval Europe were once held as ill omen, said to be the message of the heavens' displeasure of man's affairs to herald grave catastrophes.
APieces that withstand atmospheric ablation are known as meteorites, but the name of the spell in the series refers to the overall phenomenon.
Parasitism is a non-mutual symbiotic relationship between species, where one species, the parasite, benefits at the expense of the other, the host.
Trivia
Edit
- A similar plot point is used in the Final Fantasy XV Universe, as the German localization of Final Fantasy XV has Ardyn Izunia say that the Starscourge originated from the Meteor of the Six.[1] The Starscourge is caused by plasmodia mutated from insect-borne malarial parasites, and the substance shed by those afflicted is also referred to as "miasma".
