Meteodrive is Tifa's second level 2 Limit in Final Fantasy VII. It is a physical attack on a random single target that strikes for 1.625 times Tifa's normal damage. This is a guaranteed critical hit if the slot reel lands on a "Yeah!", but is skipped if the reel lands on "Miss". It is used in a combo with Beat Rush, Somersault, and Waterkick—Tifa's previous Limit Breaks—and all following Limit Breaks she has obtained since.
Meteodrive is performed by Tifa picking up the enemy in a vertical suplex position and then slamming them to the ground.
Obtained[]
Meteodrive is obtained by using Waterkick seven times. Tifa can equip the Cover Materia to speed this up, allowing her to sustain more damage and thus use the ability more often. The player can also use a Hyper on her for the Fury status that doubles the rate Limit gauge fills. A good place for Limit grinding is the large forest in the Nibel Area past Mt. Nibel where the Battery Cap enemies are fought in large waves; their laser attack can increase Tifa's Limit gauge quickly, while the Valron fought there also has Gravity-based attacks that can increase Tifa's Limit quickly without killing her.
Because Meteodrive is used in a combo with Beat Rush, Somersault, and Waterkick, Meteodrive is a straight upgrade to Tifa's existing Limit Break, meaning it should be obtained as soon as possible.
Use[]
Meteodrive is a physical attack performed in a combo with Tifa's previous Limit Breaks (if they were not misses), that deals 1.625 times Tifa's normal damage. If the reel lands on "Hit" it counts as a normal attack, but if if lands on a "Yeah!" the attack is a critical hit and its damage is further increased (approximately double). If it lands on a "Miss" Meteodrive is skipped during the combo.
Meteodrive's damage is based on Tifa's Strength stat and her currently equipped weapon. Those who wish to maximize Tifa's damage output can practice consistently landing a "Yeah!" with Meteodrive, but aiming for this increases the risk of landing a "Miss". "Hit"s with all attacks is sufficient to surpass comparable damage of other characters' level 2 Limit Breaks.
Meteodrive, once obtained, is used in a combo with Beat Rush, Somersault, and Waterkick. Landing a "Yeah!" on all four gives Tifa the potential to deal more damage to a single target than any level 2 Limit Break at this stage, and even landing "Hit"s on all will deal more damage to a single target in one turn than any other character's level 2 Limit Break is capable of. If used against a group of enemies, these attacks will be spread across them, allowing the combo to wipe out a wave of enemies. However, one or more of these attacks are misses, the damage output will either be on par with or lower than other characters are capable of.
Because Tifa's Limit Breaks are all used in a combo, once her level 3 Limit level is obtained, it is best to use it as this is a straight upgrade.
