The following entails the contents of the main menu in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
Recovery Items[]
This menu shows the current stock of recovery items. Since HP does not continuously regenerate (unless playing on Easy Mode), the player can manually use an item to restore health. The player can hold up to 10 items. Replaying the game will give two more item slots.
EP Abilities[]
The EP menu in battle.
This menu shows the player's EP abilities. This menu can also be accessed during battle by pressing

and then pressing

Customize Schemata[]
Customize Schemata menu.
This menu shows the currently equipped Schema. This menu is used to change Lightning's garbs, weapons, shields, abilities, accessories, adornments.
Quest[]
This menu shows the list of available quests, separated by location and type. Includes Main Quests, Canvas of Prayers Quests, and Side Quests. It shows the current status of the quest.
Inventory[]
This menu lists all categories of items currently in Lightning's possession.
Map[]
This displays the map of the current location.
Datalog[]
This menu is used view entries on various aspects of the game's world as well as information regarding enemies.
Rewards Barter Shop[]
This menu is used to acquire items obtained either through achievement/trophy collection or bought through PlayStation Store or Xbox Games Store.
Settings[]
This menu is used change various settings pertaining to gameplay aspects, including font magnification, subtitles display, and connection with the social services of Facebook and/or Twitter.
