Fully restores all members HP/MP
Description
Megalixir is a recovery item item in Final Fantasy VII that restores all HP and MP to the party. It is the upgrade to the Elixir, and is the strongest healing item in the game. Despite to this, Megalixir is much more common in Final Fantasy VII than in most games in the series.
Megalixir is erroneusly called Last Elixir (its Japanese name) when received at Gaea's Cliff and in Northern Cave in the PS1 version; the name was fixed for the PC version.
Obtained[]
Drop | Master Tonberry |
---|---|
Find | Kalm (kick the wardrobe in the inn), Temple of the Ancients, Corel Cave, Gaea's Cliff (called "Last Elixir" in the PS1 version), Midgar ("Mako Cannon Rampage", Northern Cave (x2), Sunken Gelnika, Bone Village, Ancient Forest, Gold Saucer Wonder Square (Crane Game), Wutai Village (prize for Turtle's Paradise), Condor War (win 4th battle) |
Use[]
Megalixir should be reserved for emergency scenarios where a full party healing spell would not suffice in, or if the party's HP and MP are both low. Ultimately, it may be wise to save it for the final boss, Emerald Weapon, and Ruby Weapon. The player may wish to utilize the W-Item duplication bug for additional Megalixirs as it is cumbersome to farm from the Master Tonberry.
Cait Sith's Moogle Cure (three stars in Slots) and Aeris's Pulse of Life have the similar "full restore" effect as using a Megalixir.
When Magic Pots ask for Elixirs, Megalixir does not work as a substitute.
Etymology[]
Mega is a unit prefix in the metric system denoting a factor of one million (106 or 1,000,000). It has the symbol M.
elixir is a clear, sweet-flavored liquid used for medicinal purposes, to be taken orally and intended to cure one's ills.
