Etymology[]
Sharqual is a portmanteau of "shark" and "squalid" (dogfish sharks).
Its Japanese name is a pormanteau of the word mega (メガ, mega?), the English word for shark (シャーク, shāku?) and the Japanese word for shark (サメ, same?).
