Meffrid Noward is a non-player character from Final Fantasy XIV. He is a leader of the Ala Mhigan Resistance and a friend of M'naago Rahz and Lyse Hext.

History[]

Early life[]

Meffrid left behind his wife and child to join the Resistance. Meffrid became a leader in the Ala Mhigan Resistance, he continued to fight the Garleans long after his homeland's fall, striking the empire from hidden outposts situated throughout Gyr Abania. As the Empire tightened its control over the city-state and the surrounding region, however, the Meffrid was forced to flee in order to rebuild his organization. When his men and women reached Gridania tired and hungry, they were informed that the elementals had rejected their plight, and turned away. Now Meffrid struggles to maintain his followers' sense of purpose so they may once again reclaim their homes.[1]

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn[]

When one of Meffrid's companions was badly wounded, Meffrid entreated the people of Quarrymill to aid him, but they all refused, being unwilling to go against the elementals' will. The Warrior of Light offered aid, however, and together with the help of Buscarron Stacks they were able to mix together an old Ala Mhigan remedy to save the man's life. Meffrid thanked the Warrior of Light by providing a letter of introduction to the Ala Mhigan Resistance in Little Ala Mhigo.

Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood[]

Meffrid and his companions later found sanctuary in Little Ala Mhigo themselves. Despite the dangers involved, however, Meffrid elected to return to Gyr Abania, where he became a pivotal member in Conrad's band of freedom fighters. He fought bravely when Zenos yae Galvus launched an assault on Rhalgr's Reach, but fell to the blade of Fordola rem Lupis, leader of the Skulls.[2]

Characteristics[]

Appearance[]

Meffrid initially wears a hempen undershirt, beige weathered slops and leather sandals. During the events of Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood, Meffrid is outfitted with Ala Mhigan Resistance gear.

Personality[]

Meffrid can be quick to anger when he and his people are in need of assistance, shown when the Elementals reject them. He is rarely willing to let others risk their lives in his place; before coming to Gyr Abania, he sent his companions from the Black Shroud away because he worried they were fighting for him rather than for Ala Mhigo. He was also said to have once let an Imperial patrol chase him for twenty malms to allow his wounded men to escape.
