Medusa, also known as Scylla, is a recurring enemy in the Final Fantasy series. She is modeled, generally, after her namesake in Greek mythology. Characters going against Medusa in most of the games in which she appears can expect attacks that cause petrification.

As one might expect, she is notorious for causing the Petrification status ailment in high frequency. Her loot pool, along with the other two Aht Urhgan Beastmen Kings, more or less lacks anything of monetary or combative significance whatsoever. Killing her in the field, however, is important to those interested in creating a Mythic Weapon, as the title granted upon her death to players involved is necessary to advance the Mythic Weapon quest line. In addition, her death in the field will also temporarily prevent her participation in Besieged.

In the original free-to-play versions of the game, both signets could only be obtained through the game's summon draw shop.
