I, Medusa, will destroy this tower in the name of our lord, Xande...and plunge these lands into eternal darkness! Hih hih hih! You cannot stop me! Prepare to die!
Medusa
Medusa is a boss in Final Fantasy III fought atop the Tower of Owen. She was sent by Xande to destroy the tower and send the Floating Continent crashing into the ocean of the Surface World. Interestingly, while Medusa has a full body during the scene before the battle, she appears as a giant floating head during the battle itself.
Stats[]
Battle[]
Her Stare ability has a 1/3 chance of petrifying a party member. Once confronted, she will likely start with Stare.
Strategy[]
Medusa will probably be the hardest boss fought so far, so it is not a bad idea to grind before entering the Tower of Owen. Players should keep healing petrified allies, as the game is over if all four party members are petrified.
The party's Black Mage should throw out Level 3 spells. Once all Level 3 MP is used, one can start using Blizzard. One can use Antarctic/Arctic Wind(s) against her for heavy damage. The White Mage should heal/reverse status effects, and the other two party members should attack or use Potions when necessary.

Etymology[]
Medusa was a monster, a Gorgon, generally described as having the face of a hideous human female with living venomous snakes in place of hair. Gazing directly upon her would turn onlookers to stone.
