Cure spell in FFXIII-2

Serah as a Medic in Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Medic (ヒーラー, Hīrā?, lit. Healer) is a role in the Final Fantasy series associated with the Command Synergy Battle system and based on the White Mage job class. Its main use is to restore HP and remove status effects.

Appearances

Final Fantasy XIII

Medic mainly maintains the party's performance by healing HP, recovering knocked out characters, and removing status ailments. Hope and Vanille specialize as Medics with Vanille learning spells at quicker rate than Hope, yet Hope is more effective when it comes to healing HP due to his Magic being naturally higher.

Lightning learns the curative spells up to ra-level, Esuna and Raise. Her fast casting speed and high Magic compensate for her lack of the higher level healing spells. Snow learns Curasa and has slightly faster casting speed than Lightning, but does not learn Raise. Fang's skillset in the Medic role mirrors Lightning's, but she is more limited due to her low Magic. As long as Sazh has a weapon that boosts his Magic status, he can be an effective Medic as he learns Curasa.

Cid Raines in his boss fight can assume Recovery Shift, where he will use Cure and Esuna and as his health dwindles gains access to Curasa.

Final Fantasy XIII-2

Medic is an unlockable role for Serah and Noel. While Noel specializes in it, Serah's higher Magic allows her to heal better despite lacking Cura and Curaja.

Two new command abilities are available to the recruitable monster Medics: Cheer and Esunada.

Caius Ballad can assume Healer Stance in the fight against him in "Requiem of the Goddess" DLC, gaining Auto-Regen and healing and buffing spells as well casting Dispelga to remove any buff used by Lightning. In this stance, Caius does not resist anything.

Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy

Lightning uses the Medic role in her battle style, using spells to restore Bravery.

Etymology

A medic is an umbrella term for a person involved in medicine. The following fall under this term: a physician, paramedic, medical student, and sometimes a medically-trained individual participating in the role of a medic such as an emergency medical responder.
